COMBINATION BILL-HEAD, DUPLICATE, LABEL, RECEIPT, AND 'ENVELOP.
ployment of which the time and labor employ ed in making out the difierent slips is reduced to a minimum. It furthereonsists of a novel construction of a sheet which is scored, perforated, and
out in such a manner that any desired portion thereof may be removed and the remainder folded, closed,-.and sealed.
i It further consists of a novel construction of a combination bill-head and duplicate,
' label, receipt, and envelo having any desired printing thereon'an scored, cut, and perforated in such a manner that after the carbon has been placed in positionbetween the different sheets all of the writing may be accomplished at a single operation without turning or refolding the devlce.
It'further consists of other novel features .Of construction, all as will be hereinafter fully set forth.
In order to illustrate my invention, Ihave shown those embodiments thereof which at present are preferred by me, although it is to e understood that various changes in the form, arrangement, and location of the different elements may be made without departing from the spirit" and scope of the invention. 1 a

. Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in the figures.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates a combination bill-head and duplicate, label, receipt, and envelop embodying my invention, the same being formed of a single sheet of paper or other suitable material which is suitably scored, as indicated at 2, 3, and 4, perforated, as indicated at 5, 6, 7, 8,.and 9, and cut, as indicated at 10. It will now be apparent from Fig. 1' that owing to the manner in which the device is cut, perforated, and scored that the sheet is divided into a label 11 receipt-slip 12, a dupli cate slip 13, a bill-head 14, sides 15 and 16 of the envelop portion, and the flap 17. This flap 17 is provided with a tab 18, which when the parts are in assembled position engages the slit or groove 19 in the envelop side portion 15. dicated at 20, in order that the upper portion21 of the bill-head 14 will'be in such alinement therewith when the parts are folded for delivery that the name and address written on said portion 21 maybe clearlyseen, as is evident.-
It is to be noted that-in the presentinstance I have shown the label 11 and the receipt 12 as being cut away, so that the prices will notappear on either the label 11 or receipt 12, but will be seen only on the billhead 14 and they duplicate 13, as will be readily apparent from Figs. 3 and 4, al-
though it is to be understood that the cutting away of said label and receipt is not essential in all cases,
The operation will now be readily ap arent to, those skilled in this art. The enve op is first placed on the reverse face to that seen in Fig. 1, and a sheet of carbon 22 is placed face downon the duplicate slip 13. This duplicate sli 13 is then folded together with the carbon-s eet 22, the parts now appearin as indicated in Fig. 2, 1t being understood The side 16 is paneled, or cut out, as insheet is cut, as indicated at 10, and perforated,
as seen at 8. The label 11, the receipt 12, and the duplicate 13, folded thereon, between which the carbon-sheet 22 is placed, are now folded to the right, so that the part appear as seen in Fig. 3, it being understood that the foldingof these parts is permitted,
owing to the provision of the perforations 5.
and 7. 23 designates a second sheet of carbon which is now placed over the receipt-slip 12 and the label 11. The bill-head 14 is now folded over, so as to engage the carbon-sheet 23, the parts now appearing as indicated in Fig. 4. The bill-head is now ready to be made out, and all the printing or writing is done on a single side of the sheet. It will be seen that'when the address is written, owing to the portion 21 of the bill-head extending over the label 11, that the receipt portion 13 is fol ed in such a manner that the carbon copy of this address will be made out not only on the label 11, but also on the duplicate slip 13, and that also a carbon copy of the bill will be made on the receipt-slip 12 and also on the duplicate 13. The carbonsheets 22 and 23 are now removed, and the label 11 and the duplicate 13 are removed. The receipt-slip 12 may remain attached to the portion 15, if desired, and this may be folded against said portion 14,- the parts Iiow appearing as seen in Fig. 7, although it will be apparent that the receipt 12 may be removed after the same is signed, .if so desired. The device is now ready to be folded, it being noted that the bill-head 14 is first folded toward the portions 15 and 16, and the portion. 2] of the bill-head 14, on .Which the address is written, is folded in a reverse direction, and the flap 17 is folded toward the bill-head 14, the parts'now appearing in a partly-folded position, as seen in Fig. 8. The addressed portion 21, the bill-head14, and the envelop portion 15 are now folded so that the addressed portion 21 is in alinement with the panel or cut-away portion 20 of the side 16 and the flap .17 is deflected over the portion 15 and the tab 18 is inserted in the slit or slot 19 in the side p0rtion-15, the parts now appearing as indi cated in Fig. 9, in which they are seen in as sembled position and ready for delivery. The member 11 may sometimes be omitted.
If the device to is be mailed, instead of employing a flap 17 provided with a tab 18, the i portion 16 of the device is provided with side flaps 24 and 25, which after the parts are folded are bent over the portion 15, and owing to the provision of the interlocking por-. tions 26 and 27 these are held in plaie. Instead, however, of employing a flap 17, provided with a tab 18, I employ a top flap 28, which is provided with a suitable adhesivr material, as indicated at 29, so that aiter this flap is bent over it may be suitably secured to the flaps 24 and 25, as will be readily apparent to those skilled in this art, the parts appearing as seen in Fig. 11, and the device is now ready for mailing.
It will be apparent to those skilled in this art that the different slips may be simultaneously Written and readily detached when desired and that there is a great saving in both time and labor when a device embodying my invention is employed. The device may be cheaplymanufactured, and the different'slips may be printed or impressed with any-desired data or advertising matter.
It will now be apparent that I have produced a novel and-useful combination billhead, duplicate, label, receipt, and envelop which embodies the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of invention and the above description. and while I have preferred to show those embodiments thereof which I have found in practice to give satisfactory and reliable results it is to be understood that my invention is susceptible to modifications in various articulars without departing from the splrit and scope thereof or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
