This invention relates to electrical connections, and more particularly to electrical connections of the class customarily known as connection-plugs and it has for its object to provide improvements of the character re- .ferred to which shall be superior in simplicity and inexpensiveness of construction and posi- .tiveness and convenience in operation and general efficiency and which shall possess superior advantages with relation to the method of connection of and for the protectionof the conductors or conductor cord or cable. w
I will now describe my invention with reference to the accompanying drawings and then point out the same in appended claims.
' In the drawings, Figure 1 is a central longitudinal sectional view of a connection-plug embodying the invention. Fig. 2 is atop plan view of the same. Fig. 3 is a transversesectional view of the same, taken upon the line 3 3, Fig. 1 looking in the direction of the connected arrows. Fig. 4 is a similar. view taken upon the lincf4 4,Fig. 1, and looking in the direction of the downwardly-pointed arrows. Fig. 5 is asimilar View taken upon the line 5 5, Fig. 1, and looking in the direction of the upwardly-pointed arrows. Retcrring with particularity to the drawing, the improved electrical connection or connection -plug comprises two separable members A ard B, which are joined together i or separated from each other upon the line t 4, Fig. said two members being jointly provided with operative connection means which jointhc two members together in swiveled relatro but which still provide for conyenient a 'd readv r lative separation of the members, the two members so joined together being adapted for connection with the receiving device, such as a plug-socket. (Not shown.)
The circuit wires or conductors which are led into connection with the connection-plug are illustrated in the drawing as consisting of two separate conductor-wires D and E, respectively, and said wires are directly con nected with the member B, being brought therefrom into electrical connection, respectively, with two circuit members F and G, respectively, which latter circuit members are carried by the member A. Electric connections H constitute a path from the conductor E to the circuit member F, and electric connections K establish a path from the conductor D to the circuit member G.
A preferred form of construction, operative connection, and relative arrangement of parts and members of a connection-plug comprising the invention as illustrated in the accompanying drawing is as follows: The body member A comprises a generally-cylindrical body portion 6, provided with the customar-y inclosing threaded metallic shell 7 fon connection with the customary threaded socket, .and said body 6 is provided with a central longitudinally-extending metallic stem, pin, or screw 8. The end portion of the body portion 6 adjacent to the body member B is provided with an annular chamber 0, in which is arranged a metallic annulus or annular bead 10 of convex interior curvature. T he bead 10 is electrically connected with the shell 7 by a metallic screw 11, and the shell screw 11, and head it) constitute jointly the circuit member G. The screw 8 holds to the end portion of the body portion 6 adjacent to the body member B a metallic plate 12, provided with a plurality of outwardly-projocting' curved spring-prongs 13, and said plate 12, spring-prongs 13, and screw 8 comprise the circuit member F. The inner end 14. of 'tlic'scrow 8 and the shell 7 are adapted tor connection with circuit members or connection parts in the plug-receiving socket in the customary manner. The electrical connections K comprise a binding-screw 23, with-which the conductor D is electrically connected, and a curved metallic plate 24, arranged diametrically opposite to the binding-screw 20, and which is bound centrally upon the body portion 15 by the bindingscrew 23, and provided with a plurality of downwardly-ranging curved metallic spring-prongs 25, which extend through the central opening 16 in the -body portion 15 and into the annular chamber 9 when the members A and B are operatively connected, closely binding upon and against the metallic bead 10 in electrical contact.
It will be'seen from the above that the con-- ductor E is connected with the circuit member F through the binding-screw 20, the connection-plate 21, and the head 22 thereof, which engage with the prongs 13. It will also be seen that the conductor D is electrically connected, with the circuit member G by the binding-screw 23, the metallic plate 24, and the prongs 25, which contact with the metallic bead 10.
As most clearly shown in Fig. 1, the prongs 13, because of their curved or irregular form andtheir spring quality, constitute, with the head 22 and the plate 21, lockingmeans M, and the prongs 25, because of their curved or irregular formation and their spring ual ity, constitute, with the bead-10, lee ,3-

Referring to Figs. 6 and 7, the body member A, which is in all other respects similar in its construction to that described with respect to the other figures, is provided with a grip member 0, whereby it may be manipulated in connecting the member A with and.

The inclusion of those locking means in the electrical connection features of the device results in simplicity of construction and the obviation of duplication of parts.
With reference to the modified construction shown inFigs. 6 and 7 the grip member 0 enables the body member A to'be readily manipulated in connecting the same with and disconnecting-the same from the rece1vof any current-consuming devices or mechanism with which the said conductors may be ble connection between the current-consuming device and the connectiomplug which most effectually conserves the best working conditions and the prevention of injury to the conductors.
Whereas I am aware that in the prior art there are examples of connection-plugs members of which are swivellyconnected and also examples of connection-plugs in which members are detachably connected, I am not aware that connection-plugs or attachment-plugS are found comprising two members which are at the same time detachably and swivelly connected! Accordingb to this invention the members are detacha 1y connected in such manner that they may be detached or separated one from the other without distinct manipulation 'of any locking means, such as screws, nuts, &c. The looking means which are employed and which are compris'edin the. circuit members of the device are so constituted as to yield in their holding function to the exertion of relatively slight strain or pressure.-- In other words, in
the use of this invention to connect-the two membersrand set up the working-current-carrying conditions the two members are simply brought together under pressure, and to relatively separate the two members and terminate current-carrying conditions thetwo members are ,simply urged or drawn apart without any distinct disconnecting manipulation of minoror auxiliary parts.

Having thus described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. An electrical attachment-plug, comprising two separably and swivelly operatively connected bpdy members jointly provided with means for maintaining electrical circuit conditions, and locking means detachably uniting said body members and comprised within said means for maintaining electrical circuit conditions. i

'An electrical attachment-plug, comprisingtwo body members separ'ably and swivelly operatively connected, one of said body members being provided with circuit members, and the other of said body members being providedwith electrical connections respectively adapted for electrical contact with' said circuit members, and locking ineans detachably uniting said body memers.

An electrical attachmentlug, comprising. two body members separa ly and swiv-- elly operatively connected, one of said body members being provided with circuit members, and the other of said body members being provided with electrical connections respectively adapted for electrical contact with said circuit members, and locking means detachably uniting said members, said locking means being comprised within said electrical connections and circuit members. 'An electrical attachment-plug, comprising two body members, one of which is provided with two circuit members, said body member being provided with a chamberedportion and with a metallic beadin said chambered portion, constituting one of said circuit members; the other of said body members being provided with electrical connections adapted for contact respectively with saidcircuit members, said latter. body member being provided with a plurality of metallic spring-prongs constituting one of said electrical connections, and arranged for electrical contact and locking engagement with said metallic-bead carried by t e former body member whereby said body members are detachably and swivelly operatively connected.

An electrical attachment-plug, comprising two body members, one of which is provided with two circuit members, one of said circuit members comprising a plurality ofspring-prongs, the other of said body members being provided with electrical connections adapted respectively for electrical contact with saidx'circuit members, the latter body member being provided with an annular metallic plate arranged for electrical contact and locking engagement with said springprongs wherebysaid body members are'dc tachably and swivelly operatively connected.
