Letters Patent No. 84,321, dated November` 24, 1868.
IMPROVEMENT IN' ADJUSTABLE FLOOD-GATES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To. whom it may concern.:
^ Be it known that I, EWELL TUPPER, of Grand Blanc, in the county of Genesee, and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Inlprovement in Ad- Y justable Water-Gates; and Ido declare that the followcured in any suitable way, to secure the posts B in an upright position.
From the top of the posts B are suspended, in a diagonal position with relation to the said posts, the rods O, at their outer ends engaging with the link vor ling D, .to which are also attached the arms E,the oppOSiteends of which are rigidly attached. to the posts B, the whole forming a support from which to suspend,
, by any proper device, the gates F, which are composed of parallel bars G, held in position relative to each other' by perpendicular rods `or bars H, or any-other suitable device.
In .the drawing, the two lower bars are rigidly at tached to each other, and then hinged at I, to the suspending-rods which hold the upper bar, and attach the same to the arms.
