a is the head of my button, and b the shank thereof. The head is removably connected to the shank, being provided with a screwthreaded recess c, into which the screw-l threaded top on the shank fits.

On the opposite side of the cloth g, to which the button is to be secured, the attachl ing-plate 7L is located, having thereon a pluand formed in such a manner that they will prevent the rotation of the plate. The attaching-plate is removably held in positionby l, means of an externally-screw-threaded pin j, secured thereto, which extends into an ina ternally-screw-threaded recess 7c, provided in the shank.
The formation of the teeth on both plates i entirely prevents the button from becoming unfastencd and the removable head enables the same shank to be used over again, although the head may become broken.
Ytlhat I claim as my invention is A detachable button comprising a shank y having the top thereof externally screwthreaded, a head having an internally-screwthreaded recess into which the end of the shank lits, an annular plate integral wit-h the top of the shank, adjacent to the screwthreading, and adapted to abut the under ,side of the head, a second plate integral with the opposite end of the shank, a plul rality of radial ratchet-teeth formed on the 1 outer surface thereof, an attaching-plate having a plurality of radial ratchet-teeth thereon an externally-screw-tlneaded pin sel. cured to said plate and an internally-screwthreaded recess on the shank into which said pin is adapted to extend and for the purpose specified. i Signed at Moncton, in the Province of l New Brunswick, this 7 th day of April, 1906.
