Thishinvention -is an im roved molders flask, having among other o jects to provide a device of this character in which the impression in the sand of the desired article to be cast may be expeditiously and perfectly formed.
With this in view the invention consists of a cope and a drag capable of being opened laterally, combined with` a pattern-board adapted to form a partition therebetween, the whole being provided with effective means for holding them in perfect register or for holding the cope and drag in register only.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this speciiication, in whichlsimilar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the iigure's.
Figure 1 -is a perspective view of the flask;
complete. Fig.-2 is a rear side elevation of the same. Fig. 3 isja transverse central vertical section. Fig. 4 is a plan view of the cope, the same being shown laterally opened and Fig, 5 is a transverse section through the pattern-board.
Referring to the drawing figures, the numeral 1 indicates a rectangular frameforming the drag for the ask. At opposite diagonal corners of -the frame ribbed cornerplates 2, are provided, reinforcing and strengthening the drag at these points. A hinge 3 is secured at a third corner of the drag, adapting it tobe laterally 'separated when desired to removethe sand therefrom. For securely holding the hinged portions' of the drag together when lsame is in use is provided at the corner diagonally opposite a clamp comprising a plate 4, having a hooked end, anda plate 5, having an enlarged rounded en d adapted to be engaged by the hook and lheld engagement therewith by a lever 6-,

To the opposite face of thepattern-boa'rd 15 hooked hinge members 13a, in alinement with the hinge members 13 and of the same construction, are secured.

A plate 18, fixed to the lower face of the patternboard, has fixed to it, preferably as an integral part thereof, a pin 19,- which when the patternboard and' drag are assembled passes through an apertured plate 20, secured to the drag. An apertured'plateQOa, ,secured to the top face of the pattern-board in alinement with the plate 20, is of the same construction and performs a like functionfor a cope 21 when in register with the top face of the patternboard. The cope/21 is of the same construction as the drag 1, differing only in the particulars hereinafternoted.

A molders fiask consisting of a cope made up of two members hingedly connected together, a clamp for holding the members ofthe cope from separation, a drag consisting of two members hinged together, a blamp for hold-ing the members of the drag from separation, guide-bars for maintaining the cope and drag in register, and means whereby the guide-bars may be turned to operative and inoperative position.
3. In a molders flask, a cope, a drag, guide-bars pivotally attached to the drag, means for locking the guide-bars in horizontal and vertical positions, brackets carried by the cope cooperating with the guide-bars,
and adjustable sockets carried by the brackets for the purpose described.
