Referring to the drawings, 5 designates a vehicle-spring on which a buffer embodying my invention is secured. This bufi'er comwhich issecured in a channel formed in a plate 7, placed on the upper side of the spring, and telescopmember, conwhich engages against the inner side of the tube 6,.and an outer tube 9 engages against the outer side of said tube 6. The upper ends of said tubes 8 and 9. are secured in an annular channel formed in a cap-plate l0 and are held apart at the upper end by a spacing-ring 1 1. on the cap-plate 10 is a cushion or which is shown as hemispherical, and this bufi'er consists of a block 16 and a cap-piece 17, the said cap-piece 17 being of somewhat softer rubber than the rubber forming the block 16. Therefore when the upper portion 17 is torn away it maybe readily removed and another piece cemented to the block 16. The device is held in place onthe spring 5 by means of clip-yokes 20, which engage at their upper portions in transverse grooves 21", formed in the plate 7, and the lower portions engage with plates 22, placed against the under side of the spring 5. It will be noted that the ends of the plates 22 are inclined upward and outward, thus practicallyforming cam-surfaces, so thatthe clip-yokes by being forced downward thereon will draw the parts closely together. The plates 22 are mounted onan axle 23, and. threaded extensions 24 on the clips ZO-engage with a the under side.
