Description

No. 841,372. PATENTED JAN. '15, 1907.
' H. BUSGHMANN.
ADJUSTABLE SUPPORT FOR MODELS, GARDS, 6w. APPLICATION FILED APR.27,1906.
UNITED STATES PATENT ()FF HUGO BUsoHluANN, or MULHEIM-ON-THE-RUHR, GERMANY.
ADJUSTABLE SUPPORT FOR MODELS, CARDS. 800- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 15, 1907.
Application filed April 27, 1906. Serial No. 314.089.
T0 cLZZ whom, it 711,601 concern.-
Be it known that I, HUGO BUSOHMANN, a subject of the German Emperor, and aresident of Mulheim, Ruhr, Germany, have invented new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Supports for Models, Cards, and the Like, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an adjustable support for models, cards, and the like for school demonstrating purposes, as shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a front view, and Fig. 2 a side view, of the support, while Figs. 3 and 4 and 3 and 4*, respectively, show modified forms of attachment of the support to any ordinary table or the like in front view and side view.
By means of an attachment 0,, which is fixed to the top plate of an ordinary table through the medium of clamp screws, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, or to a ledge provided on the table, either through the medium of a rectangular groove, as shown in Figs. 3 and 3 or of a dovetail-shaped groove, in which case the fastening of the attachment may be strengthened by pins 6 passed through the attachment and adapted to catch into corresponding holes provided in the table, as shown in Figs. 4 and 4, the support Z) is held in position. i
The support 6 comprises the rigid plate 0 and the movable plate d, which is hinged thereto and adapted either to be folded up, so as to lie flat on the plate a, or to be unfolded, so as to project at right angles to the plate 0.
The rigid plate 0 is fixed to a rod f, which is passed through the attachment 0 and adapted to slide therein and provided with a series of holes it, through which a pin 9 can be inserted so as to lie upon the attachment a, and thus to prevent the support from falling. By providing several holes h the support can be adjusted in its vertical position.
For drawing purposes in, schools the movable plate of the support is unfolded and any convenient article or modelsuch as a cylinder, cone, or the likeplaced thereon.
To let the shadows of this article appear very distinctly, the plate 0, as well as the plate I), is painted quite white, so that the children can draw the article or model such as appearing on the support with shadows.
To demonstrate cards, drawings, and the like, the plate (1 is folded up and held in this position by any suitable means, such as astop or the like, (not shown in the drawings,) whereupon the cards, drawings, or the like may be suspended from a hook 6, provided at the top of plate 0 for this purpose.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
Adjustable support for school demonstrating purposes, comprising in combination a rigid plate a painted quite white, a movable plate d also painted quite white and hinged to said rigid plate 0 and adapted either to be folded up so as to lie flat on said rigid plate 0 or to be unfolded so as to project at right angles to said rigid plate 0, a hook e provided at the top of said rigid plate 0, a rod f fixed to said rigid plate 0 and provided with a series of holes, an attachment a adapted to be fixed to a table or the like and to receive said rod f so that the latter can slide therein, and a pin 9 adapted to be inserted through one of the holes in said rod f so as to lie upon said attachment a and thus to fix said rigid plate 0 to any desired height, substantially as described and shown and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set .myhand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
