Description
ORVILL H. SAWDY, OF IOLA, KANSAS.
TOY CROSSBOW.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 1, 1907.
Application led July 2, 1906. Serial No. 324.422.
T0 all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, ORvILL H. SAwDY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Iola, in the county of Allen and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Crossbows; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and eX- act description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention is an improved crossbow; and it consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of a crossbow embodying my improvements. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same. Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view of the same, taken on the plane indicated by the line a a of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a detail longitudinal sectional view of the same, taken on the plane indicated by the line l) b of Fig. 2, and F i0.' 5 is a muzzle elevation of the same.
The tframe 1 is approximatelyin the form of a gun-stock and is made from a single piece of wire bent to form the stock portion2 and the pair of parallel longitudinal arms 3. A band 4 connects the said arms 3 at a suitable distance from the outer ends thereof and forms the support for the which is provided with a hook 6. The barrel is formed by a pair of semicylindrical mempivoted trigger 5,
F rom. the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
arious changes in the form, construction, and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention as defined by the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A crossbow comprising a frame having a pair of forwardly-extending arms, a bow having a plate secured to the front ends ,of said arms and provided with an opening, and a pair of barrel members secured to the inner sides of the said arms and forming bowstring slots between the inner edges, the outer end of the barrel formed by said members being coincident with. the opening in the bow-plate, substantially as described.
2. A crossbow comprising a stock-frame wire bent to form the stock por* tion and a pair of outwardly-extending, allel arms, a bow having a the outer ends of said arms, a pair of barrel members secured to the inner sides of said arms and forming bow-string slots between IOO their oppositely-disposed edges, a band Gonmy hand in presence of tWo subscribing Witneeting the sad arrrls at the point Whrre l nesses.
t ey are unite to t e stoor portion, an a trigger pivotally mounted in said band and ll ORVILL H' SAWDY' having a hook to catch and release the boW- Witnesses:
string, substantially as described. C. L. WHrTAKER,
