CHAIR ATTACHMENT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 1, 1907.
Application filed April 6,1906. Serial No. 310.083.
To all whom it may; concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM C. MARTIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Coldwater, in the county. of Branch and State of Michigan, have mventcd certain new and useful improvements in (hair Attachments, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in chair attachment s.
It is particularly designed as an attachment for harbors chairs to adapt the same for children, although it is desirable for use on other chairs for adapting the same as a childs or high chair.
The objects oi this invention are, first, to provide an improved childs seat attachment for chairs which is quickly attached or detached and one which rnav also be quickly adjusted to meet particular requiren-ients, and, second, toprovidc an improved childs .seat attachment for chairs which is very simple and economical in construction and convenient in use.
l urthe-r objects and objects relating to details of construction will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
1 accomplishthe objects of my invent-ion by the devices and means described in the following specification.
The invention is clearly defined and pointcd out in the claims.
A structure embodying the features of 111: invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a detail perspective of my improved chair attachment, the same being" shown in position 11 )on the back oi a chair. Fig. 2 is a detail Sl( e elevation showing the arrangement of the hanger and the scat-supporting brackets. Figs. 3 and 4 aredctail sectional views taken on lines 33 and 4 4, re spectivcly, of Fig. 2; and Fig. 5 is a detail front elevation of the hanger B.
Similar letters ol' reference refer to snnilar parts throughout the several views.
Referring to the drawings, A, represents the bucket a chair. The hanger ll of my improved chair attachment is preferably U- shaped in general form, ha ving a pair of parallel arms, the arms being provided with rearwardly-turnml hooks at then upper ends,
trated. This hanger i5 is preferably formed in one piece from a metal rod. The hook portions of the hanger are covered by pieces adapted to engage over a chair-hack, as illusof tubing B, which prevent marring of the chair when the top of the same is of wood or cutting into the same when covered, as shown perforated to receive the projecting portion of the bracket. 'To brace the bracket, 1 provide arms 0 for the scat, formed of metal rods, the upper ends of the rods being riveted in the upper ends of the bracket and the lower ends the outer arms of the bracket. 1 thus secure a lightv and very strong structure.
The front sides of the hangers are notched to receive the bottom ear C" ofthe seat-supporting brackets. The ears 0 engaging these notches hold the seat in its adjusted position. Notches B are arranged to correspond with the two arms of the hanger.
1n the structure illustrated there are four adjustments for the seat. It is evident that the number may be mereased, if desired.
As previously stated, my improved chair attzu-lnnent is especially designed by me for use as an attachment for harbors chairs to adapt the same to childrens use. his evident that the attin-hments could hequickly applied or removed and also maybe quickly adjusted.
l have illustrated, and described my improved chair attachment .in detail in the form prcl'erred by me on account of its structural simplicity and convenience in use. 1 am aware, lnnvever, that the same may be varied considerably in structural details \\'iiliout departing from my invention,
ilaving thus described my invention, what .l claim as new, and desire to secure by Lct. tcrs :latent, is-- I l. The combination ol' a U-shaped hanger l'ormed of a mc-talrod having parallel arms with rearwardly-turned books at their u )per emls, :niapted to. be engaged over a chairhack, said arms having notches in their front sides, the notches ol' the two arms being arranged to correspond; a seal; L-shapcd brackets l'ormcd ol' llat metal strips upon which the said seat is mounted, having rear-- eing secured to n'ardl \'-pr ier-ting ptl'lUlztltrl ears through hit-h the arms oi said, ears henna; adt-ipied to enga neat-hes in said stin its adptstrd position; for said liisit-iu-ts, i'orined ol' metal rods. arranged to setve :RS :1['IIIS tor the suit the pin-pustsp t-ilied.
