POCKET-BOOK PROTECTOR.
Specification. of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 27, 1906.
Application filed August 18, 1904. Serial No. 221,233.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CEoIL THOMAS MAR- SHALL, a subject of the King of England,,residing at Wetaskiwin, District of Alberta, North-West Territories, Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pocket-Book Protectors; and I do herebydeclare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to pocket-book protectors.
The object of my invention is to provide a clasp or protecting device adapted to engage the edges of the wallet or pocket-book and to securely hold the same in closed position.
A further object of my invention is to provide a flexible member having one end connected to the clasp and having its opposite end provided with a clasp adapted to engage the clothing of the wearer to prevent accidental displacement of the pocket-book; and my invention consists of the construction, com bination, and arrangement of parts, as hereinafter illustrated, described, and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this application, I have illustrated one form of embodiment of my invention, in which drawings similar reference characters designate corresponding parts, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a pocketbook and my invention, showing its application to the pocket-book. Fig. 2 is a transl l 1 r l l i verse vertical section through the protector of my invention, the flexible member being shown in elevation.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates a pair of plates secured together by a bent spring 2, so that the bent ends 3 of the plates 1 are normally forced together. The plates 1 are provided at one end with extensions 7, pivotally held in position by the pins 8, so
that the extensions are free to swing back against the plates 1. Secured to the extensions 7 are flexible members 9, which are joined to form a single member 10. Secured to the end of the flexible member 10 is a clip 11, comprising parts similar to the clip described, except there are no pivoted extensions 7.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a safety attachment for pocket-books, a pair of plates provided with inturned edges at one end and hinged sections at the oppo site end, a flat spring disposed between the plates and adapted to connect the same and serve as a hinge, and a member connected with the hinged sections of the plates and adapted to secure the device to the clothing of the wearer.
