Description

' J. K. TAYLOR.
SHOE RACK.
Arrmouron rmm 0011. 1004.
Yul loll" P17!!! 00., vuumm. n. C.
PATBNTED NOV-116, 1,906; I
' UNITED sTATEs PATENT oEEIo To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JEssIoA KEENE TAY- LOR, a citizen ofthe United States of America, and a resident of the borough of Manhattan, in the city of'New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shoe Racks, of which the following is a specification.
The object of m invention is to provide a rack for shoes, s ippers rubbers, galoshes, and other like footwear which can be readily fastened to a suitable support, such as a door of a room or closet, in suitable osition and at a convenient height and whic will hold and support said article's individually in good shape without their being suspended, (whereby they might become marred by contact with the frame.) At 'the'same time the articles take up the least possible space, and they can be readily located when desired to use a certain pair of such articles or replaced.
In order that my invention may be full understood, I will proceed to describe it witii reference to the accompanying drawing, which showsa perspective view of my imroved shoe-rack secured at a convenient eight to the middle partof a door as a suitable support.
1 is a door, to which my rack is secured. The rack consists of a horizontal frame or guard-rail 2 for-holding the articles in vertical position at their insteps or middle parts and a supporting ledge or platform 3 for supporting the articles by the toes. The holding-frame 2 is constructed with a series of horizontal arches 2 and inwardly-extending stub-arms 2*, providing U-shaped recesses 2 and rounded front seats 2 and with end lugs 2 The recesses 2 are adapted to receive the individual members of the footwear in vertical position, while the arches 2 and stub arms 2 are adapted to embrace and separate them individually at their insteps or middle parts and impinge against the suport to render the frame rigid, while the end ugs 2 provide means flush with the inner ends of the arms 2 to receive the fastenings, whereby the frame is securedto the support.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed October 1, 1904. Serial No. 226,830.
Patented Nov. 6, 1906.
The supporting-ledge 3 is constructed witha vertical retaining front flange 3 and with end projections 3*, providing means to receive fastenings whereby the ledge can be secured at the desired distance from and ad-\ jacent to the frame for supporting the articles by their toes and preventing their dislodgment, while they are merely held in place by' the holding-frame without being suspended therefrom.
Having thus described my invention, the following is what I claim as new therein and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A shoe-rack comprising a vertical support, a horizontal holding-frame constructed with a series of horizontal arches and inwardlyextending stub arms impinging against the support to render the holdingframe rigid and providing U-shaped recesses and rounded front seats and adapted to embrace the individual shoes and separate them, .and a horizontal supporting-ledge located beneath and ad'acent to theholdingframe for supporting t e shoes in vertical position by their toes and constructed with'a retaining front ledge to prevent the dislodgment of the shoes. I
2. A shoe-rack comprising a vertical support, a horizontal holding-frame construct-.
ed with a series of horizontal arches and inwardly extending stub arms impinging against the support to render the holdingframerigid and providing U-shape'd recesses and rounded front seats and adapted to embrace, the individual shoes and separate them, and with end lugs secured to the support and a horizontal supporting-ledge located beneath and adjacent to the holdingframe for supporting the shoes in vertical 0- sition by thelr toes and constructed witfi a retaining front ledge to prevent the dislodgment of the shoes and with end lugs secured to the support.
