Be it known that I, HARRY A. LANDIS, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Pittsburg, in the county of Alle gheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements in Curtain-Poles, of which the "ollowing is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in curtain-poles, and relates more particularly to that class wherein the use of rings and pins are entirely dispensed with.

The present invention has for its obj ect the provision of novel means whereby a curtain may be easily secured to a pole, readily removed therefrom, and draped in any desired manner, presenting a neat and artistic appearance and hiding from view the fastening means.

My invention further contemplates the provision of means that will prevent the rod over which the curtain is draped from saging and securing the same in the pole and ends that will retain the parts in a rigid position.

The invention still further aims to provide a device of this character that will be extremely simple in construction, strong, durable, comparatively inexpensive to manufacture, and highly efficient in its use.

With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, and specifically pointed out in the claim.

In describing the invention in detail, reference is had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, and wherein like numerals of reference indicate like parts throughout the several views, in which- Figure 1 is curtain-pole. thereof. Fig. 3 1s an enlarged vertical sectional view of one of the ends. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the rod over which the curtain is draped. Fig. 4 is an under plan view of the pole, partly broken away, with the ends a front view of my improved Fig. 2 is an enlarged end view removed. Fig. 5 is an end view of Fig. 3. Fig. 6 is a perspective view of the screwthreaded plug. Fig. 7 is a front view of the hanger, and Fig. 8 is a detail view of a plate.

In the drawings the reference-numeral 1 represents the curtain-pole, having formed therein a slot 2, which extends in alinement with the pole and has arranged therein a securing-rod 4, carrying screw-threaded ends 5. These ends are secured in screw-threaded plugs 6, which carry integral lugs 7, said plugs and the lugs carried thereby being seated in an annular opening 8, formed in the ends 9 of the pole, and the lugs 7 are secured in recesses 10, formed in the ends. The curtain is represented by reference-numeral 11. The bracket 12, formed of two strands of wire forming a loop 14 to receive the fastening means, such as a screw 15, is adapted to sup port the curtain-pole 1 by means of forwardlyextending prongs 16, Which are bent up wardly, as shown at 17, to engage in the slot 2 in order to retain the pole in proper position. By turning the ends 9 the rod 4 will be subjected to traction which will prevent the curtain from sagging near the center. It will be noted that by reason of the slot 2 and the rod 4 the curtain will be permitted to be easily manipulated to any desired position and that the same may be easily drape to the pole and readily removed therefrom when desired.

In Fig. 8 a pierced plate 8 is shown which may be placed at each end of the pole upon the securing-rod 4.

The many advantages obtained by the use of my improved curtain-pole will be readily apparent from the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings.

It will be noted that various changes may be made in the details of construction Without departing from the general spirit of my invention.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
