The objects of the invention are to provide a device that is exceedingly cheap as to cost, simple in construction, easy of application, and one in which the appearance oi the window and shade will not be disiigurcd or inipaired.

A further object is to provide device that will catch the shade and prevent its being suddenly wound upon its roller, as often happens, by the sudden releasing ol the rollerspring r 1d one that will not damage the edges of the shade while being raised or lowered.

With these briefly-stated objects in'viev. the invention also comprises certain details of construction and peculiar arrangement of parts, as will be fully described in the ;l"ollowing specification and pointed out in the claim, reference being had to thedrawings, in which Figure l is a perspective view showing the general application of my invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail. perspective view of the same. Figs. 3 and 4 show a slightly-modifled construction; and Figs. 5, 6, and 7 show further modified forms of the guide.

As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings, I construct the guide F of a single piece of Wire, which is bent intermediate its ends at points F. Each end is then extended rearwardly to a point and thence forwardly to a. point- F, which provides an open loop F, and finally backwsrdly, as shown at F, the extreme ends being pointed-to permit the uides being easily driven into the windowame.

In Fig. 3 i show a slightly-difierent construction to that shown in .liigs. 1 and 2 in that only one point G is provided instead of two, as shown in Fig. 2. in this construc tion the loops G are provided similar to the loops if, and instead of extending both ends rcaiwvnrdly and of an even length I converge them, as shown at G and make one end shorter than the other, the shorter end being wrapped one or more times around the longer end, as at G which securely fastens the ends together. The longer end of the wire is llntiened. to provide a point H to facilitatc the guides being driven into the window-l'rnnie and also to prevent the guidesturning after being secured in position.

The construction shown in Fig. 6 is somewhat similar to the construction shown in Fig. the only difl'crence being that I bend the wire centrally at I and extend each end in substantially parallel direction to points I to provide the open guide-loop I, and from the point 1 each member is bent back uppn itself, shown at I, which ortions 1- project some distance beyond t 1e inner end of' the open loop and have their extreme ends pointed. that shown in Fig. 6 is provided, only the ends I are bent under the parallel ortions that form the loops instead of upon the sides.
