uieoturer. a subject of the Grand or residing at 48 Holzgsrtenstrssse, iPfo-" heirn, German Empire, invented R6. and useful Improvements in Processes and Apparatus for Manufacturing Lined Metellie Hose, of which the following is specification.
My invention relates to 9. process of end o. psintus for manufacturing spiral metallic e "loving an inner lin-i-ng-hose of india-rt1bother suitable material. 1e novel feature of the invention is that the lining-hose is fed through the hollow spindle of the metallic hose-making machine during the manufacture of the metallic hose in such manner the finished hose complete with the lining can be drawn from the spindle. Prior to entering the hollow windingspindle the liningdiosc is pressed or folded together in the direction of its length, and sfter removal of the linished hose the lininghose is again distended by conducting sir, liquid, or other suitable agent into it, so that the outer wall of the lininghose lies tightly against the inner Wall of the outer metallic hose.
One form of construction of a machine for carrying out the new process is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a. side elevation of the machine; Fig. 2, longitudinal section through the heed of the winding-spindle with device for pressing in the lining-hose. Figs. 3 and 4 are cross and longitudinal sections of a piece of metallic hose with collapsed lining. Figs. 5 and 6 are like views of the metallic hose after distention of the lining, Figs. 2 to 6 being drawn to an enlarged scale.
The hose-winding machine is mounted on e. suitable framing and furnished with a hollow spindle (1 upon which the hose 7) is wound in wclldinown manner. The lining-hose of rubhcr or other suitshle material to he introduced into the metallic hose is wound on the reel in. At the opposite end oi t iemschine is :i reel 0, to which the piece of finished metallic hose connected. This reel c turns on the pin (Z and is hold by the ironic f, which rotates on the axis 51 g, located at right angles to the pin (Z. Similarly the reel in turns on so. axis located at right snglcis to the pin on e known that l, EMIL Wnzmnusnni ich it is mounted, the said axis. like the spindle c. When a llkliitlllc hose is to he rovided w h rubher or otlierlininz hose I j p i. 1 the latte is red rroni the reel in through tne hollow winding-spindle to the reel 0. ln order to'enshle this to be done, the rubber hose 1 before entering: the spindle n1 is pressed in or tolded together. l 'or this purpose there unity, for instance, be a roller 7) located in a recessed part ol the heed 0, which roller presses in the hose unwinding troin the reel m, Fig. 3, or the hose may be drawn from the reel m in already-folded condition. After the lining-hose has been iniisted it will lie tightly against the inner well of the outer metallic hose and forms, as it were, an integrsl port of it. The metallic hose is wound on the spindle o in Y ll-known manner. Each time the spindle (1 .:is been wound the hose is automatically or by hand pushed oi! the spindle and with the lining wound onto the reel 0.
The details of the apparatus may he varied in numerous ways. This applies in pan ticuler to the description of windingunschine employed. The essential feature of the invention is that the lining-hose is fed to the metallic hose during the course of msnui'scture of the letter and is pressed in or folded together in longitudinal direction prior to its entering the hollow winding-spindle.
Having thus dcscrilwd my iin'ci'ition, what I claim as new, and desire to scrurc by linttcrs l utcnt i 1. The process o'l lllzll'lll inc urine lined spirsi metallic hose, consisting in winding rue-- l swindle, and simultm e on u uolio conduct hose from the inn suhstnntislly as described.
' 1;. ni nu'l seluiing lined spin winding inclatter, and then distending the lining-hose, by means of asuitable agentuntil it lies tightly against the inner Wallof the metallic ,hose, substantially as described;
,3. In apparatus for manufacturing lined spiral metallic hose, a hollow spindle, a lining-hose reel mounted at the head thereof and at right angles to the spindle-axis, and means for rotating the reel and spindle, substantially as described.
4. In apparatus for manufacturing lined spiral metallic hose, a hollow s indle a lining-hose reel' mounted at the ead thereof and at right angles to the spindle-axis, a roller mounted between the reel and the spindle, for making a longitudinal fold in the lin-v ing-hose, on its entering the spindle, and
'ing-hose reel mounted at the means for rotating the reel, spindle and 1
