My invention relates to 9. process of end o. psintus for manufacturing spiral metallic e "loving an inner lin-i-ng-hose of india-rt1bother suitable material. 1e novel feature of the invention is that the lining-hose is fed through the hollow spindle of the metallic hose-making machine during the manufacture of the metallic hose in such manner the finished hose complete with the lining can be drawn from the spindle. Prior to entering the hollow windingspindle the liningdiosc is pressed or folded together in the direction of its length, and sfter removal of the linished hose the lininghose is again distended by conducting sir, liquid, or other suitable agent into it, so that the outer wall of the lininghose lies tightly against the inner Wall of the outer metallic hose.
One form of construction of a machine for carrying out the new process is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a. side elevation of the machine; Fig. 2, longitudinal section through the heed of the winding-spindle with device for pressing in the lining-hose. Figs. 3 and 4 are cross and longitudinal sections of a piece of metallic hose with collapsed lining. Figs. 5 and 6 are like views of the metallic hose after distention of the lining, Figs. 2 to 6 being drawn to an enlarged scale.
The hose-winding machine is mounted on e. suitable framing and furnished with a hollow spindle (1 upon which the hose 7) is wound in wclldinown manner. The details of the apparatus may he varied in numerous ways. This applies in pan ticuler to the description of windingunschine employed. The essential feature of the invention is that the lining-hose is fed to the metallic hose during the course of msnui'scture of the letter and is pressed in or folded together in longitudinal direction prior to its entering the hollow winding-spindle.
