CONVEYING SYSTEM.
Specification of Letters Patent.

and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Conveying Systems; and I do herebydeclare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to eonveyers, and particularly to systems of conveyers wherein more than one conveyer is employed; and
r 5 some of the objects of the invention are to provide a conveyer system which will be simpleand cheap in construction as well as efiicient in operation. V
Another object of the invention is to provide a conveyer system wherein the main and auxiliary conveyers are so arranged as to effect great economy in space, while permitting of the location of the major portion of the main conveyer in. a plane above the aux- 5' iliary conveyer, whereon it discharges.
A further object of the invention is to provide an auxiliary conveyer in a plane above a the main portion of the main conveyer, said conveyers being so arranged in relation to each other that theloaded lead of each conveyer is brought into closest proximity or relation to each other.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists, essentially, in the construction, combination, and arrangement of parts, substantially as more fully described 1n the following Specification and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings. forming part of this application, in which'- Figure 1 is an elevational view, partly broken away and artly in section, showing an application of t e invention, Fig. 2 is an elevational view, partly broken away, taken at right angles to Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a diagrammatic perspective view illustrating the operative relation of the main and auxiliary conyeyers. Similar characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
Referring to the drawings, and particularly to the construction illustrated in Figs. 1
and 2 thereof, reference character 1 designates portions of the supporting posts or framing, whereon' are secured beams or timbers 2. with track rails 3 located thereon and constructed to receive supportin -wheels or a traveling structure or bridge 5. wnereon may be secured a platform or frame 6, carrying uprights 7, with which and the platform 6 are connected inclined members or a frame 8,
su. porting sets of curved rollers or troughingid ers 9, substantially as shown.
Revolubly mounted or j ournaled upon the upright 7 is a discharge-roller or'dump-pulley 10, below which is likewise mounted a guideroller or bend-pulley 11, while on the end of the platform is preferably mounted a supporting-roller 12, and secured upon a framing or structure 13 is mounted an inverted trough 14, in which are mounted sets of straight pulleys or rollers 15, and above which are mounted sets of curved pulleys or troughingidlers 16, over which sets of rollers travel a main endless conveyer or belt 17, which also passes up over-the sets of troughing-idlers 9 on the tripper-frame and over the dump-pulley l0 and a guide-roller 11 and supportingroller 12 back to the sets of troughlng-idlers 16, as will be readily understood by those skilled in the artto which this invention appertains.
Brackets 18 are preferably mounted upon the ends of the traveling structure or bridge 5, and in said brackets are journaled shafts 19, carrying rollers or pulleys 20, over which intermediate portion whereof is preferably suppgrted he" sets of curved or ST-I'H-L'Ihi r- xll rs 22 and 23, respectively. sui'istantially as shown in Fig. 10f the drawings.
A motor or other driving device 24 may be mounted upon the traveling structure or bridge and may be provided with a usual band-pulley 25,'belted to a band-wheel'26 on one of the shafts 19, by means of which the passes the auxiliary or cross conveyer 21, the

By means of the construction described and shown the auxiliary cross-conveyer is made to straddle or overlap the main convcyer, as clearly shown in the enlarged diagrammatic perspective view in Fig. 3 of the drawings, and by this means the upper or loaded lead of the main conveyer 17 and the similar lead of the auxiliary or cross conveyer 21 are brought very close to eaclr'other, and the discharging of the material from the upper or loaded lead of the main conveyer 17 upon the loaded lead of the auxiliary con.- veyer is greatly facilitated; but this construction is particularly desirable and necessary to scription when taken in connection with the a'ccompanyin drawings and the following explanation t ereof. 5a-
The material is placed upon the main conveyer in any suitable manner, and said conveyer may be provided with any desired driving means, and theconveyer is moved or progressed in the direction indicated by arthe supportingulley 12 and back to the sets of troughing-id ers 16 on the frame or; 'timrows in Figs. 2 and 3 of the drawings until it passes up over the sets of troughing-idlers- 9 upon the inclined frame or tim over the dump-pulley 10, and a hood or casing 22 may be provided at this point if found desirable in practice, and from the dumppulley 10 the main conveyer 17 asses down under the bend-pulley 11 and etween the.

The material discharged by the main conveyer 17 when passing over the dump-pulley 10 is received bythe upper curved lead of the auxiliary conveyer 21 and is conveyed thereby to the end of the travelin structure or brid e or to any other place 0 discharge, as will be readily understood.
It is not desired to limit or confine this invention to the specific construction, combination, and arrangement of parts herein shown and described, and the right is reserved to make all such changes in and modifications of the same as come Within the spirit I and scope of the invention.
I claim- 1. A conveying system provided with a main conveyer, an auxiliary conveyer at an angle thereto, the upper lead of the main conveyer being between the leads of the auxiliary conveyer and the lower lead of said main conveyer being below the lower leads of said auxiliary conveyer.
