[NVENTOR Alfomey UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM SANDERS, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-THIRD TO J. E. YOUNT AND ONE-THIRD TO E. G. RANKIN, OF ST. LOUIS,
MISSOURI.
CHURN.
Patented Sept. 4, 1906.
Application filed Kay 29, 1908. Serial No. 819.324-
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM SANDERS, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, haveinvented certain new and useful Im rovements in Churns; and I do hereby dec are the follow ing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it 'appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this s ecifieation.
This invention re ates to new and useful improvements in apparatus for holding receptacles adapted to contain liquids or other material to be agitated, and comprises, essentially, a box which is open upon one side, to the ends of which box are connected the inner ends of s rings, one of which is adapted to su port t e box, while the other is designed to return the same to its normal position after having been raised by the supportrug-spring, the outer ends of said springs be- 1 secured to fixed objects.
he invention consists, further, invarious details of construction and arrangements of parts, which will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
I illustrate my invention in nying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of my invention, showing the same in readiness for use; and Fig. 2 1s a. sectional view centrally through the invention.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a box, which may be of any suitable size or shape, and is provided with'an open side A, whereby a receptacle B may be placed within the box or removed therefrom.. In each end of the accompathe box is fastened an eye 0, and to the eye in the u per end of the box a coil-spring D is fastene the other end of which is caught over the bracket-arm E, supported from the wall of a building or other object, and a spring D is fastened to the eye at the lower end of the box and is fastened to a bracketarm F, also secured to the wall in the same manner as the up er bracket-arm is fastened. Each of said brac ket-arms is suita'bl braced in order to hold the arms rigid. he two springs D and D are of different strengths, t e upper spring being stronger than the lower one for the urpose of counterbalancing the weight of t e receptacle or can which is adapted to be placed within the box and also to cause the box, with its receptacle, to be raised up after being depressed by an operator pressing upon the box.
In operation the can or rece tacle which holds the cream is placed wit 'n the box, and by imparting a downward pressure, by the hand of an operator, upon the box the latter may be caused to vibrate vertically, thereby thoroughly agitating the cream.
What I claim is- In combination with a box having an open side, an eye secured to the top and bottom of the box, s rin s of unequal strength, the inner end of eacfi spring secured to one of said eyes and fixed means to which the op osite ends of p the springs are fastened, sai box adapted to receive a receptacle, which is held upon its seat by the to of the rece tacle coming in contact with t e under sur ace of the top of the box, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM SANDERS. Witnesses JOHN T. PRICE, FRANK M. WHITE.
