MAX RUBIN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO I. B. KLEINEBT RUBBER (30., OF NEW YORK, N. Y.. A CORPORATION OF WEST VIRGINIA.
' GARMENT-HANGER.
N0. 828,573. Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Aug. 14, 1906.
Application filed December 18, 1905. Serial No. 292,185.
enlargement E of the slot D and thehanger pulled down until the upper end of the slot D rests upon the shank of the stud. The locking-disk F is now turned on its pivot and brought into the position shown in Fig. 3 and is temporarily locked in place by the teat K, which is now in the depression L. Part of the disk F now extends across and over the enlargement E of the slot D, thus preventing the shank of the slot from passing down into the enlargement E, and thus preventing withdrawing of the stud, as the head of the stud cannot be drawn through the slot D.
As shown in Fig. 3 in dotted lines, the notch can also be cut or made on the opposite of the pivoted locking-disk F.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a garment-hanger, the combination with a body-plate having a means for attaching a tape at its base and also provided in its upper part with a slot terminating at its lower end in an enlargement, of a locking-plate pivoted to said body-plate beneath the abovementioned enlargement to turn on said bodyplate parallel therewith, said locking-plate being provided in its rim portion with a notch which can register with the lower part of said enlargement of the slot, substantially as set forth.
2. In a garment-hanger, the combination with a body-plate having a means for attaching a tape at its base and also provided in its upper part with a slot terminating at its lower end in an enlargement, of a locking-plate pivoted to said body-plate beneath the abovementioned enlargement to turn on said bodyplate parallel therewith, said locking-plate being provided with a notch in its rim portion and with a projecting handle portion and with a projection on its inner face, the bodyplate having a depression into which said projection of the locking-plate can, snap, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
Be it known that I, MAx RUBIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York city, borough of the Bronx, county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment-Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved garment-hanger of the kind that are used, for example, for suspending garters or hose-supporters from the stud of a corset or a like stud or button on a belt, &c., and which hanger is simple in construction, strong and durable, can be readily and rapidly applied or removed and cannot become detached accidentally.
In the accompanying drawin s, in which like letters of reference indicate Iike parts in all the figures, Figure 1 is a face view of the body-plate of my improved hanger. Figs. 2 and 3 are face views of my improved hanger, showing the same opened and closed, respectively.
The body-plate A of the hanger is flat and tapered toward its upper end and is provided at its lower end with a cross-piece B, in which a longitudinal slot O is cut for receiving the upper end of the supporting-tape of the garter or hose-supporter or the like. A slot D is cut in the upper end part of the plate A and is preferably made slightly flaring downward and terminates at its lower end in an enlargement E of sufficient size to permit of passing the head of a corset stud or button through it. A flat diskF is centrally pivoted by apivotG to the face of the plate A, located beneath the lower end of the slot D.
The disk F is of such diameter that its circumference extends across the lower portion of the slot D. This disk F is provided in its rim with a substantially semicircular notch H, which is of substantially the same shape and size as the lowest half of the enlargement E of the slot D and can register with said lower half of the said enlargement, as shown in Fig. 2.
The disk F has a lateral handle extension J and part of said disk is punched inward into a depression L, pressed in the face of the plate VIAX RUBIN. A. When the hanger is open, the parts are Witnesses:
in the position shown in Fig. 2. The head of OSCAR F. GUNZ,
a corset-stud can now be passed through the E. S. Ross.
