HANS eUi'i'Mi,v oF BAUTZ'EN, GERMANY. TRUCK Fon 'RAILWAY' `AND l"raAnnwAil4 vau10mi-fs'.
Be it known thatI, HANS GUMMI',-a subject of the King of Bavaria, residing atS Albertstrasse, Bautzen, in the Kingdomof' Saxony and Em ire of Germanyhave invented 'new and use l Improvements in Trucks for Railway and Tramway'Vehicles, of which' the follIO lowing is a specification.. f `This invention relates to single-.axle swivelvtrucks "for railway and tramway vehicles- Which 'comprise a frame adapted to move I .about the laxle-boxes, said frame being conwagon so as to be capable of sprin nected with the body of' the. carriage or -controlled transverse movement/at one or end and tralpivot.
According to this inventionuse is made of a plate-spring forfconnecting theframe and the body of the carriage or wagon so as to be movable in thetransverse direction, theI said spring being arranged in such a manner that its fnornal position corresponds to the always mov central positlon.
, improve central position of -the swivel-truck, which when swmgin to one or the other side is thus back by the plate-spring to its By the use of tage is gained that it will not be necessary, as was heretofore the case, to employ -two drawsprinrgs acting in opposite directions for placing the truck in the central position and that at the same time the support-of the body of the carriage or wagon will beleffe'cted through the `medium of the adjusting-spring.,
In the accompanying drawings a constructional form ofthe invention is rep sented. Figure 1 is a side vlew, Fig. 2- a fr nt view, Fig. 3 'a (plan, and Fig. 4 a. rear view," off the single-axle swivel-truck. Figs. 5
to 7 are three diierent views showing the i" mode of connecting the ends of the adjustingend e there is a pivot g, fixed in the latter andA engaging with a corres ending hole .in the transverse beam h of t e body of the car riageor Wagon. By this means the swivel- `truck is adapted to be turned in `thewellvided, the ends of whic are the plate-spring the adv-an-l Patented July 31.., 1806.
'kDWl manner about' thev've'rtical..centraljgg pivot-'at tlielfead or'end e. The body of the carriage or wagon is )rilacedy i in the wel1known manner upon s iral s rin i t; arranged vertically at the'si es. n t el*v arrangement shown a. late-spxrin le is pro- 6o edgbymeans of simple plates to the body of the carriageor wagon. r11he other head or end d has at thecenter a vertical pin or bolt Z, engaging withv` a transverse slot m in a guide-piece n, fixed to 6 5 the; body of the carriage or Wagon. The slot m limits the turning movement of the truck relatively' to the body of the carriage or waoon to either side. 1.
'l-he single plate-spring o, servingto place' :Q
the truck in the central position and at the,
same time to sup 'ort the ody of thecarriagrA orwa on upon t e swiveletruck, is fixedim mva ly to the head or -end d, while its 'ex-f.
tremities are connected with the body ofthe er;
carriage or wagon, so that it can movetrans-l ,vetsely'to-,the lon 'tudinal axis of such carriage or wagon. or this Purim-Q th'bodv ofi-.the carrie e or wagon is suspended from the ends of t e s rings by means of trans- 8e' verse-plates' g, `igs. 5 to 7, the length of w ich is suc as to permit of the requisite tr .nsverse movement of the swivel-truck.
What, I claim as in invention, and desire y' to secure by Letters' atent, is4
1. I n asingle-axle swivel-truck of the cl'l'aracter described, la frame adapted to move about the wlieel-axle, a vertical pivot in the. middle of one head of the frame, and' a bore .i u lprovided for the said pivot in the bodyof- 9a' the carriage, in cmbination with atransverse spring arranged at the opposite head of dthe frameand serving to connect. the latter head of the frame with the body of the carriage so as tobemovable t1 ansversclv, said sprin be- 95 ing'fixed firmly in the middl\to oneI o the parts unitedby same, and by its ends to the other parts so as to be movable in every di.. rection, substantially as and for the purpose herein set forth..` roe 2. In a single-axle swivel-truck of the cheracter described a frame adapted to move about the Whse axle, a vertical pivot in the"` middle of. one head o-the frame, and a .bore provided for the said pivot in the body of the 1o 5 I carriage, in combination with a transverse 'spring between this head of the frame and t 1e body ofthe carriage, and a transverse spring arranged at the opposite head of the frame and serving to connect the latter head of the frame with the body of the carriage so as to be movable transversely, said spring being fixed firmly in the middle to one of the parts united by same, and by its ends tothe other parts so as to be niovable in every direction, substantially as and for the purpose herein set forth.
3. In a single-axle swivel-truck of the character described, a frame adapted t move about the wheel-axle, a vertical pivot in the 3 middle of one head of the frame, and a bore provided for the said pivot in the body of the i carriage, in combination with a transverse springr between this head of the frame and the body ot' the carriage, a'transverse springer arranged at the opposite head of the frame and serving to connect the latter head of the i frame with the body of the carriage so as to be movable transversely, said spring being fixed firmly in the middle to one of the parts united by saine, and by its ends to the other parts so as to be movable in every direction,
a vertieal guide-bolt at the head of the frame opposite the pivot of such frame, and a horizontal transverse guide-slot provided 1n the l body of the carriage for the Said guide-bolt, substantially as and for the purpose herein set forth.
4. In a Single-axle swivel-truck ol' the character described, a frame adapted to move about the wheel-axle, a vertical pivot in the middle of one head of the frame, and a bore provided for the said pivot in the body of the Carriage, in combination with a transverse spr-ing arranged at the opposite head of the trame and serving to connect the latter head of the frame with the body of the carriage so as to be movable transversely', said spring,r being?r fixed firmly in the middle to one of the parts united by same, and transverse. plates l at the ends of the transverse spring for conneeting the suine with the other parts united l by same, substantially as and for the purpose herein set forth.
In testimony whereof l have signed my name to this specification in the presence of I two subscribing witnesses.
