CATAMENIAL SACK- Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom) it may concern.-

Be it known that I, DAVID A. POWDER- MAKER, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia,

State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Catamenial Sack, of which the following is a specification.

' My inyentlon consists of a catamenial sack composed of parts, as will be hereinafter 1o pointed out in the claims.

Figure 1 represents a plan view of a catamenial sack embodying my invention in' normal condition. Fig. 2 represents a perspective view thereof in comparatively operative condition. Fig. 3 represents a transverse section on line a; at, Fig. 2.

Referring to the drawings, A- designates a :0 band formed of a sheet of soft rubber, which maybe readily folded into the form of a channel or sack, of light weight, is easy while worn, and so kept clean. At the ends of the band are buttonholes B, whereby the band 2 5 ma be readily secured in position on the bo y of the wearer.

atches, thus strengthening said ends and rival y retaining said members D in position. en the band is in the condition Fig. 1, it is folded into channel or sack form, as shown in Fig. 2. A napkin, such as H or other suitable absorbent material, preferably folded, is then placed in the sack and the straps are brought up around one side of the band over the-napkin, then down around the other side and under the band, when the ends of each strap meet and the fastening members are connected, thus preventing opening of the straps and retaining the napkin in position, it being noticed that the upper exposed portions of the straps are fiat and smooth and the fastening members are on the under side of the band, in which condition of parts the sack may be worn with ease and comfort and serves admirably for the purpose intended.

The straps may be disconnected, the napkin removed, and the band washed, the advantages of which are evident. The band may then resume an original flat sha e and so occupy but small s ace, while, if esired, it may be convenient y rolled or otherwise made into a compact bundle. The straps C may also be elastic, so as to be stretched taut, an

so rest fiat on the contiguous parts and hold tightly thereagainst while also assisting to prevent shifting of the napkin or absorbent material employed.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. Acatamenial sack composed of aband of pliable material, a strap connected at its inner end with said band and extending transversely therefrom, its outer end being free, a fastening member on one end of said strap and a counter fastening member on the other end thereof, said strap being adapted to pass around said band and its ends meet at said fastening members.

2. Acatamenial sack consistingof aband of pliable material, a transversely-extending strap ada ted to be passed entirel around said ban one end of said strap eing sccured to the under side of said band, a reinforcing-piece. on the band at the place of connection of said end, a reinforcing-piece on the free end of said strap, and fastening members connected respectively with the said band and opposite ends of said strap and the reinforcing-pieces on said parts.-
