GUSTAV GEIGER, OF MUNICH, GERMANY.
PHOTOGRAPHlC-PLATE HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 26, 1906.
Application filed October 24, 1905. Serial. No. 284,212.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GUSTAV GEIGER, residing at 16 Maximilian Platz, Munich, Germany, have invented new and useful Improvements in Photographic-Plate Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in photographic-plate holders.
In photographic-plate holders as heretofore usually made the slide either projects beyond the case or is made flush therewith, in which event it is provided with a leather attachment to serve as a handle. In practice it is found that the projecting arts are very easily damaged or torn off by lows or careless manipulation, so that the slide cannot then be withdrawn from the case.
My invention has for its object to obviate this disadvantage, and to this end I make use of slides which are plain and flush with the edge of the case when inserted, and I provide the upper edge of the said case with notches which ermit the fingers to grasp the upper ends 0 the slides. I
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a plate-holder made according to the invention, and Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof.
1 is the case, and 2 2 are the slides, each of which is in the form of a plain plate that does not project in any way from the edge of the case 1, but is flush therewith. In order to facilitate the withdrawal of the slide, the upper edge of the case is made with the notches 8, which permit the slides to be grasped.
The invention is applicable both to single and double plate-holders. In the latter case the slides proper are made with recesses or notches 4 at opposite ends, so that each can be separately grasped for manipulation.
5 is a hole provided in the upper edge of the case for the insertion of the finger when withdrawing the plate-holders from the camera.
Having now particularly described and as certained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is A photographic-plate holder having a pair of notches cut entirely through its upper edge and slides for said holder, each having a cutaway portion registering with one of the notches.
GUSTAV GEIGER.
