Portable Wardrobe, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to improvements in folding wardrobes particularly adapted for the use of travelers, the object being to provide a device of this character in which clothing will be protected from dust and soconstructed that it may be folded for packing in a trunk. e v
I will describe a portable wardrobe embodying my invention and then point out the novel features in the claim.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters' of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the iigures.
Figure 1 is a perspective view ofa folding portable Wardrobe embodying my invention.
. Fig. 2 is an inside view of the top board employed, and Fig. 3 shows the device as folded.
The top board ofthe wardrobe consists of two sections 1 2, which are hinged together, as indicated at. 3, and to prevent dustrfr'om entering between the sections 1 and 2 at the hinged portion flaps 4 are secured to opposite sides of the board and adapted to fold down over th'e slight space between the two sections 1 and 2. Secured to the top of the sections are hangers 5, and on the under side are cleats 6 to prevent the splitting of the secl tions, and also on the under side are hooks 7,
from which garments may be suspended.
To hold the two sections 1 and 2 in extended position when the device is in use, the said sections on the under side are provided with eyes 8, through which a rod 9 is passed, and
' engaged between said rod 9 and the topboard sections is a wedge 10, which, as clearly shown in Fig. 2, engages with both sections and the top board to prevent any possible movement of one section relatively to the other. For convenience in withdrawing the wedge it may be provided with a fingerloop 11.
Suspended from the top board is a bag-like structure 12, having an opening at its front,
' which may be closed by a Hap 13, said flap 13 being connected at its lower end to the baglike structure and having rings or eyes 14 at its upper edge for engaging with hooks 15, attached to a depending part 17 of the baglike structure. Excepting for the openings in the front and back, it will be closed at all sides and at the bottom.
. Surrounding the bag-likestructure and attached at its upper edge to the top board is a curtain 18, which, as indicated in Fig. l, has .its lower edge projected Fbelow the bottom of the bag-like structure. This curtain is separated at the front, so that the front portions may be moved aside when it is desired to gain access to the bag-like structure.
It is to be understood that both the baglike structure and the curtain are to be of any suitable textile'material that may be readilyfolded, so as to be conveniently placed in a trunk or the like.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A portable wardrobe comprising a top board consisting of two hinged sections,
hangers attached to the upper side of said top board, an eye on the under side of each of the top-board sections, a rod for engaging in said eyes, a wedge for engaging between the rod and top-board sections and a bag-like structure extended from the top board.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
Y ANNA M. SCHERFF.
