Be it lnlown that I, JOHN T. WILsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Des Moines, in the county of Polk and State of Iowa, have invented a certain new and useelectrical conductors in the post to coact with the fence-wires in carrying "on elcctricity from the fence-wires to the ground.
A further object is to provide an improved mold especially designed for use in connection with forming said posts and in holding the fence-wire-attaching means to the longitudinal wires on the interior of the post and to proper position projecting beyond the post during the time the post is being molded.
My invention consists in the construction of the post and in the arrangement and combination with the mold of the means for holding the fence-wire-attachin devices to position while the fence-post is eing molded, as hereinafter more fully set forth, pointed out in my claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 shows a perspective view of the fence-post complete. 1 Fig. 2 shows a side elevation of same with parts broken away to show certain details of construction and with a fence-wire in position relative to one of the fence-wireattacl1i11g devices. the reference-numeral 10 is used to indicate the body of the post, which is preferably made of a cementitious substance, tapering from its lower to its upper end and hexago- Extending longitudinally from end to end of the post are the wiresor rods 11 at suitable intervals throughout the length of the post. I have attached' to the wires 11 a fence-wire-attaching device comprising two metal loops 12, slightl spaced apart from each other and sec firmly connected with the wire rod 11. In. attaching a fence-wire I place the fence-Wire- 13 between two loops 12 and then place a wed e 14 in said loops in enga ement with the fience-wire, and I then turn the lower end of the wedge outwardly at '15 to firmly secure it in position and to hold the fence-wire against movement relative to the post, except in a longitudinal. direction.
The mold comprises a base 16, having a number of transverse metal cleats 17, provided with notches 18. On top of the base 16 at its longitudinal center is a bottom board 19. formed with pairs of notches 20 at suitable intervals. The sides of the mold are indicated by the numeral 21 and are pro vided at suitable intervals'with the brace bars 22, having at their lower ends the lugs 23 to enter, the notches 18 and having at their upper ends the lugs 24- to enter the notches 25 in the cross-pieces 26 at the top of the mold. In Fig. 5 I have shown a slight modification of this feature, which consists in dispensing with one of the extensions 25 and connecting the top piece 26 with one of the parts 23 by hinge 27. In each of the sides near each end is a notch 28, designed to receive the mold end pieces 29, which are formed with a number of openings 30 to re ceive and support the longitudinal wires or rods 11. On top of each cross-piece 26 is a bracket 31, designed to receive a longitudinal supportin rod 32.
In practice use I connect the sides of the mold with the base and then connect the ends with the sides, and finally place the top pieces 26 in osition. I then place the lon-v gitudinal re s 11 with their ends'resting in the openings 30. Before doing this I connect the loops 12 with the rods 11 and I insert the lower ends of the lower set of 100 s 12 in the notches 20 to hold them proper y s aced aplart, and I then'pass the rod 32 t ough t e upper ends of the loops 12 at the top and rest said rod upon the bracket 31 to ICC rom the mold.
