Description

@uiten tant gallant @frn OWEN v. EVANS, 0E RIPLEY, omo, ASSIGNon 'ro HIMSELE AND'JAMES REYNOLDS, or SAME PLA-CE Leiters Patent No. 82,301, dated september 22, 1868.
IlltllltCllTED CONCRETE-BLOGK-MAKING MACHINE.
ilge .Stimuli referat' tu in tigen etters rztin' mit mating mi nf the time.
To ALL 'WHOM -IT MAY eoNoERN:
Be it known that I, OWEN V. EVANS, of Ripley, in the county lof Brown, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Concrete-Block Presses and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use thepsame, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure l represents a plan view of my improved machine.
Figure 2 represents a side elevation of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts.
The nature of my invention relates to improvements in pressesfor making concrete blocks, whereby it is designed to provide a simple and effective machine for accomplishing the same; and it consists in the arrange` ment and combination of the parts, as will be more fully described on reference to the accompanying drawings.
' On asuitable bed, A, a table, B, is arranged to revolve in a horizontal plane, which is provided withmoulds C, which are provided with vertically-sliding langesD.
Surmounting the said revolving table, is a hopper, E, 'into which the material to be compressed is placed,
-from which it is fed into the moulds C.
F represents a'vertical slide, for forcing the ang'es D up into the moulds, compressing the concrete or other material therein against the shoulder of the vertical posts K K, formed by the recess L therein. The said slide F receives motion through the medium of the levers G, H, and-I.
The table B receives intermittent motion from the-intermittent motion of a toothed segment, M, provided with a pawl, N, which takes into corresponding notches in a dislr attached to the vertical shaft of the table B. The said oscillating segment isoperated by a pinion, P, rack Q, connecting-rod R, and hand-lever I.
The two sots of devices for operating the slide F and table B arel so arranged, relatively to each otherthat while the slide F is moving the vertical presses D, the segmentM'is being drawn backward, and the table is at rest, and while the slide Fis being drawn downward, the segment is moving forward, and cansingthe table to move.
The sliding pressers D are provided with friction-rollers S, which ride.v up the inclined plane .l, after passing the pressing-slide F, whereby the compressed blocks 4are ejected from the moulds. After passing the i inclined plane T, the pressers drop down again, and the moulds are prepared to be illed again, as they arrive at the proper position under the hopper.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The cornbination, with the table B, of the disk O and slide F, oscillating toothed segment M, pinion P,
.and rack Q, substantially as and for the purpose described.
2. Thecombination of the mechanism for operating the sliding pistons l), with the mechanism for rotating the table B, when the same are arranged to operate relatively to each other, substantially as and for the purpose described.
The above specification o'f my invention signed by me, .this 9th day of March, 1868.
' OWEN V. EVANS.
