DANIEL S. EARLY, OF HUMMELSTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA.
.Letters Patent No. 65,551, dated June 11, 1867.
IMPEOVED MEAT-CUTTER.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, DANIEL S. EARLY, of Hummelstown, in. the county of Dauphin, and the State of Pennsylvania, have made a new and useful Improvement in Meat-Cutters; and 'I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, suifieient to enable one skilled in the art to which it appertains to construct and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Figure 1 is a top view. 1
Figure 2 is a side elevation.
Figure 3 is a view of a detached cutter. v
The meat-block is rotated on a vertical axis by the impulse of a pinion on the axis of the master-wheel.
The latter drives a pinion on the shaft, provided with cams which lift the knives consecutively and release them to fall by their weight and the force of the spring upon the cutter-block.
In the drawings, A A are the frame, having a table, B, and a centre-post, C, upon which the cutter-block D rotates in a horizontal plane. Beneath the cutter-block is a gearing, E, which is engaged by the pinion F on the axis of the master-wheel G, which is rotated by the crank H. The cogs of the master-wheel engage those of the pinion Ion the shai't'd, which is provided with cams K set at angles of ninety degrees apart, so as, by the rotation of the shaft, to actuate the vertical choppcrs li consecutively by contact with the under surface ofthe lugs Z on the sides of the chopper-shafts. M isa fly-wheel to give regularity of motion to the shaft 5. The springs N bear upon the upper bar 0 of the frame, and upon shoulders ltof the chopper-shafts, so as to add to their force the weight of the choppers.
Having described my invention, what I claim therein as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the rotating cutter-block D, gearing E F G I, cam-shaft J, and vertical spring-choppers F, constructed and operating substantially as described and represented.
To the above specification of my improvement in meat-cutters I have set my hand this thirteenth day of Fehruary,1867.
