Be it known that I, 'JOHN DAVID BROWNE, of the city of Cincinnati, county of Hamilton, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in the Construction of Mop-Heads, the nature of which invention consists in the metho of constructingand operating the loose or sliding jaw, and securing the material of the mop; and I do 'hereby declare that the following is a. full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the sante, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making part of this specification, in whieh- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the mop-head.

A represents the fixed jaw, yhaving a. serrated edge, a, to hold the materials of the mop securely.
On the jaws A is cast thees'ocket B, to receive the handle.
On the outside of the socket B are formed the threads df a. screw, on which the nut C fits.
On the sides of the socket B are also made grooves or recesses c e, in which the Aends d d of the loose jaws D are guided. i K
D is the loose or slidingjaw, having the ends d d formed so as to clasp the nut C and retain itin its place.
Operation. By turning the nut C, the sliding jaw D is moved back and forth to grasp or release the materials of the mop. Y
What claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- The fixed jaw A, having the grooves or recesses c c on the socket B, in combination with the loose jaw d d und nut C, substantially as and for the purpose described. l
Also, in combination with the above, the serrated edges a on the jaw A, as set forth.
