TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, GEORGE L. GERARD, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven, and in the State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bed-Bottoms; and do hereby declare that the following isa full, clear, and exactvdescription thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and the letters of reference marked thereon. i
In the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, A represents one of a. series of parallel bedslats, and securedtc and supported upon the spiral spring C. Y
B represents the lower or under slat or board to which the spring C is fastened, and by which it is supported.
The pieces A and B have circular grooves cutin their inside faces, just so the spring, `when ,pressed up or down against them, will ft in said grooves. l
The spring C is fastened to the bottom slat B by means of a. simple button, g, which is pivoted to said Slat, and turns readily over the said sprinl C, and thereby holds it down.
To fasten the spring C to the upper slat A, I use one stationary strip of metal, d, and a simple button,f.
By my device it will be seen that I can remove either one ofthe springs or slats, and replace them at pleasure.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
'.Ihe arrangement of the plate or strip d and buttonsfand g, with the spring C and sla-ts A and B, the parts being made and used as and for the purpose specified.
