Inasmuch as a comparatively small au mentation of initial ressure may be suiiicientfor the purpose in view, the Wheel may be disposed in its casing With no more clearance around it than is necessary to insure its free rotation-that is to say, the clearance Which would necessarily exist between the inner periphery of the rings and the nozzles and the outer periphery of rings and casing will of itself sufficiently produce the spaces heretofore designated as the passages 16 and chamber 7 to permit the requisite flow of fluid from delivery-pipe towheel-inlet, or, in other words, the normal regurgitation of liquid due to leakage around a rotary impelling-wheel may by the above-described means be utilized to increase the kinetic energy of the liquid-supply.
