Description

No. 820,777. PATENTED MAY 15, 1906. p v G. GRIGE & C. J. BARROW.
CIGAR AND CIGARETTE HOLDER.
APPLICATION FILED DEO.18, 1905 UNITED STATES PATEN'T OFFICE.
CIGAR AND CIGARETTE HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 15, 1906.
Application filed December l8 1905. Serial No. 292,373.
To (all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, GEORGE GRIcE, residing at 63 Jamaica Row, and CHARLES JOHN BARROW, residing at 65 Francis road, Birmingham, England, subjects of the King of Great Britain, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cigar and Cigarette Holders, of which the following is a speciflcation.
This invention relates to improvements in cigar and cigarette holders; and its object is to provide improved meansfor preventing the dust or small loose particles from the cigar or cigarette from entering the mouth, also to provide means for piercing the cigar. We effect these objects by the arrangement shown in the accompanying drawings, upon which are figures and numbers of reference, in which- Figure 1 is a side view of aholder made according to this our invention. Fig. 2 is an end view of the holder. Fig. 3 is a sectional plan view of the holder on line A B. Fig. 4 is a cross-sectional end view on line C D.
Similar reference-numbers throughout the several views refer to the same thing or art.
5 is the holder, which is made of meta and shaped in a taper form suitable to embrace the end of the cigar or cigarette and also to form the mouthpiece.
6 is a central tube having perforations or holes 7 in its sides and near its front end. The end of this tube is also out in a V-shaped form at 8, which thus leaves two cuttingpoints 9 and 10, one on each side. TlllJ tube 6 is flared at its other end, so as to rest upon the flared end of the tube of the holder 5.
11 is a perforated cap Whose edge 12 is turned over, so as to embrace the flared end of the holder 5 and the flared end of the tube 6. In this cap, as before intimated, are perforations 13. The end of the holder about the part 14 is somewhat flattened in the ordinary way for the better accommodation of the user. By these means the perforated cap 11 prevents any dust or small loose particles thrown off from the cigar or cigarette from entering the month, while in the case of cigars the end of the tube 6 forms a piercer which cuts its way into the end of the cigar, so that the smoke may be drawn through into the mouth.
Although usually the central tube 5 may not be required or used for cigarettes, still it can be so used, if desired.
What we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A cigar or cigarette holder comprising a holder-body, a tube located centrally thereof, and means consisting of a perforated cap for securing the tube to the holder.
2. A cigar or cigarette holder comprising a holder-body, a perforated tube 6, V-shaped at its forward end and located centrally of the holder, and means consisting of a perforated cap for securing the tube to the holder.
3. A cigar or cigarette holder comprising a holder-body, a perforated tube located centrally thereof and having at its forward end two cutting members, and means consisting of a perforated cap for securing the tube to the holder.
In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands in presence of two subscribing witnesses GEORGE GRICE. CHARLES JOHN BARROW.
Witnesses:
J. BERNARD HAYWARD, N. Goonwm.
