ATTACHMENT FOR BAHBEES CHAIRS.
To (tZZ whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE E. ORGAN, a citizen of the United States, residin at T0- mah, in the county of Monroe and tate of l/Visconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Barbers Chairs and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in water-receptacles adapted to be attached to the back of barbers chairs for use in shaving operations.
The object of the invention is to provide a receptacle or container of this character which may be 'removably attached to the back of a barbers chair and from which water may be readily drawn, means bein provided whereby the discharge valve 0% said container is prevented from being casually opened.
With the above and other objects in View the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination, and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Fi ure 1 is a perspective view of a portion of a barbers chair, showing the application of the invention. Fig. 2 is-a vertical sectional View of the device removed from the chair, and Fig. i? 1s a perspective view of the supportingramc.
Referring more particularly to the drawing interiorly-tln'eaded sleeve 5, in which is 'shown.
adapted to be screwed a valve-casing 6, 0 on at its inner end and closed at its outer en as The 'open inner end of the valvecasing is provided with a series of interiorlyarranged screw-threads, and into said interiorly-thrcaded end of the valve-casing is screwed a valve-seat 7, with which is adapt- Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 31, 1905. Serial No. 278,578-
Patented my 1, 1906.
ed to be engaged a valve 8. The valve 8 is provided with a stem 9, which is ada ted to project through a centrally-dispose aperture formed in the closed outer end of the valve-casin and on the projecting end of the stem is ormed a finger-piece 10. Around the stem 9 of the valve is arran ed a coiled spring 11, the opposite ends 0 which are adapted to bear against the valve-seat 7 and against a plate or washer 7, secured to the valve-stem, as shown, thereby normally holding the valve into closed enga ement with the seat. In the outer closed en of the valve-casing 6, adjacent to the lower side of the same, is formed a series of dischar eopenings 6, through which water from t e contain r is adapted to pass when the-valve is opened by pressure on the finger-piece of the stem, as will be understood.
The support preferably consists of an open rectangular frame 12, the back bar 13 of,
which is adapted to be screwed or otherwise secured to the back of the chair. To the back-bar 13 is secured the upper end of a depending right-angularly-formed bracket bar or plate 14, upon which the container is adapted to rest when supported by said frame. To the end bars of the frame 12 are pi'vot'ally connected the ends of an outwardly and downwardly projecting bail-shaped guard-bracket 15, which projects over the fingeriece 10 of the valve-stem 9, said bailshape guard being supported in position over the finger-piece 10 of the valve-stern by means of lugs 16, formed on the end pieces of the supporting-frame 12, thereby protectin and guardin said valve-stem against casua or accidental movement by the attendant, which would cause the opening of the valve and the permature discharge of the water in the container.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying. drawings, the construction and operation ofthe invention will be readily understood without re {piring a more extended explanation.
arious changes in the form, proportion, and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without dep rting from the principle or sacrificing any if the advantages of this invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is v A liquid-container havi a fillingopening and discharge-openings ormed therein, a
menuelly-opened, springclosed valve to cover sald dlscharge-openings, a frame to removably support said container, aguardbail secuned" to said frame to as-deseribed.
rotect said 5 valve against casualo eninga-n suppbrtinglugs for said ball in said frame, substantially j.
