Be it known that I, DEWIS LANDAU, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Siphon- Heads; and I ,do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in siphon-heads and it has for its objects to produce a siphon-head which can be readily secured to the siphon-bottle and in which the valve regulating the flow of the soda has a smooth even action tending to produce a non-gushing flow of the soda.

A further object of my invention lies in the fact that I have provided means for limiting the action of the op crating-handle. Besides, a suitable vent is provided, whereby the pressure can be relieved and the complete filling of the bottle made possible.

The invention more particularly resides in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of parts, all as more fully hereinafter described, and set forth in the claims.

In the drawings hereunto annexed and constituting a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a vertical section of the siphon-head, showing the manner of attaching the same to the neck of the bottle. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the device employed for limiting the action of the handle. Fig. 3 is a cross-section taken on the line 1E 90 of Fig. 1.

The main body A of the head is formed with the upper neck B and lower base C, the flanged collar E being for the purpose of preventing the spreading of the rubber washer a, the siphon-tube R resting in seat S.

As a means for operating the valve F, which regulates the flow of the soda to the spout G, I have formed the V-shaped head H, which is similar to that shown in my former application, Serial No. 220,047, filed August 25, 1904;"but the pin 6, which is stationary relative to the head H, is formed as a projection of a segment of the wall of the neck B and has a spreading head.

In order to provide a vent for the escape of the air near the top of the bottle, I have provided the tube I, which is engaged by the screw-cap i, the latter being formed with the perforation j. V

In Fig. 1 I have shown means for afiording a free passage from the vent to the interior of Y the bottle. In this construction I have employed the member K, one end of which is threaded to the base C of the siphon-head, while the opposite end is formed with interior threads similar to those on the base C and secured to the bottle in a similar manner. It is evident that this member K makes it possible to attach any form of siphon-head to the upper end of member K, thereby afiording the advantages of the vent.

The cap L, which acts in conjunction with the attachment shown in my former application, Serial No. 242,666, filed January 25, 1905, is set forth in a separate application recently filed and by the employment of which the bottle can be readily refilled.

Now as a means for limiting the action of the handle M, which operates the valve F, I have provided the device shown in Fig. 2, which consists of a metal band N, adjustably held about the neck of the siphon-head by means of a binding-screw n. This band is formed with an upwardly-projecting arm m, which projects into the path of the handle M. It is evident that by placing the forefinger and thumb on the arm m and handle M, respectively, and forcing them toward each other the valve F will be opened. By adjusting the position of the band N the handle M will be limited in its action, and thereby prevented from continuing in its motion sufficient to cause the soda to gush from the siphon-spout.

It will be readily seen from the above description that I have provided a very simple and effective head capable of performing all the functions set forth.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. A siphon-head provided with a suitable spout, a valve arranged to operate in conjunction with said spout, a rotary member formed with an inclined face, and a pin stationary relative to said member and bearing against said face, said pin being formed with a spreading head adapted to removably rest in said siphon-head substantially as set forth.

2. A siphon-head provided with a suitable spout and valve, a handle arranged to operate said valve, and means adjustable relative to said handle and arranged to limit the movement thereof, for the purpose set forth.

3. A siphon-head provided with a suitable spout and valve, a siphon-tube, a seat in said head to receive said tube, a siphon-bottle, and a member encircling said tube and interposed between said head and said bottle and screw-threaded to said head, said member 5 being provided With a vent for the purpose set forth.

4. A siphon-head provided With a suitable spout, valve and siphon-tube, a seat to receive said tube, a siphon-bottle provided 10 with a rim, a Washer engaging said tube, a

sieves secondary Washer engaging said rim, and means for affording a vent between said Washers for the purpose set forth.
