ra'rnn r or NEW JERS'EY r r in the COUIIty-OfESSGX and State of'New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Horn-SirpportsfOr Talkinglowi'ng to be a fulLclear, andexact description of the invention, such as will'enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to numerals of reference marked thereon, which form part of this s'pecificationj w -T his invention'has reference to improvelments in horn-supports for talking machines, and more especially for phonographs; and the invention has for its principal object to pro vide a simple, cheap, and novel construction of horn-support for phonographs, the'p'arts of such support being readily adjustable,
whereby the reproducinghorncan be suit-5 ably brought in its suspended position in front of the phonograph to-produce the best J results, and, furthermore, the'parts of .the
adjustable support being of such construction" and arrangement that a perfectly strong and I rigid support will be the result, from which the largest horn can be suspended without danger of tilting or swaying and Without any,
possibility of damaging any portion ofthe talking-machine due to the undue and unstable support of the horn.
Other objects of my present invention will be clearly evident from the following detailed description of the adjustable support embodied in the following specification.
WVith the various objects of my present invention in view the same consists, rimarily, in the novel horn-support for ta king-machines hereinafter set fdrth; and, furthermore,
this invention consists in'the arrangements and combinations of devices -and parts, as well as in the details of'the-construction of the same, all of which will be fully described in the following specification and then finally embodied in the clauses of the claim, which are appended to and which form an ihseparable part of the said specification.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is' v 1. =A horn support for talkingmachines, comprising a base -plate adapted to be arranged bene'a'th'th e base of the case or box'of the machine, and providedwith a forwardlyextending portion, a supportingrod-carrying projection connected with said base plate and extending. upwardly in front of the front face of said case or box, said projection being provided with a cut-away part, and a shoe or race on said out away part, said shoe-or brace extendingupwardly and being" in engagementwi'th a portion of the front face of the case or box, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
A horn support for talking machines, comprising a base plate adapted to be arranged beneath the base of the case or box of the machine, and providedwith a forwardlyexte'nding portion, as1ipporting-rod-carrying projection connected with said base-plate and extending upwardly in front-of the front face of said case or box, said projection beingprovid'ed with a cut -away part, a shoe or brace on said cut away part, said shoeor brace extending upwardly and being inengagement with a portion of the front face of the case or box, and means extending upwardly from said base-plate for engagement withthe bottom of said case or box, substan-' tially as and for the purposes set forth. 7

In testimony that l claim ,the'invention set forth above I have hereunto set hand bent portion adapted to extend around the sound-reproducing horn of the machine and terminating in an extension, a tube connected with said extension, a rod adjustably connected with said tube, and a horn-suspension device on said rod, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.

In a horn-support for talking-machines, the combination, with a baseplate and means for .coni'iecting said plate with a portion of the case or box ofthe talking-machine, of a tubular post connected with said base-plate, a rod adjustably arranged in said tubular post, said rod having acurved'. or bent o ortion adapted. to extend around the soun- -reproducing horn of the machine and terminating in a screw-shite aded extension, a collar and a pair of tightening-nuts on said extenson, a finger on said collar,and means connected with said finger for the suspension of a horn'thereon, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.

In a horn-support for talking-machines, the combination, with a base plate and means for connecting said plate with a portion of the case or box of the .ta1king-ma-- chine, of a tubular post connected with said base-pirate, a rod adjustably arranged in said tubular post, said rod having a curved or bent ortion adapted to extend around the soun reproducing horn of the machine and terminating in a screw-threaded extension, a
collar and a pair of tightenin -nuts .on said extension, a linger on said collar, a tube extending from said finger, a rod adjustably connected with said tube, and means on said rod for the suspension of a horn thereon, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
10. In a horn-support for talking-machines, the combination, with a base-plate provided with a projection 10 and means for connecting said base-plate with a portion of the case or box of the'talking-machine, of a stud on said projection 10, a tubular post on-said stud, means on said stud and said tubular post to prevent turning of the latter on said lar post, and means connected with said rod for the suspension of a horn from said'rod, substantially as and for the thishlst day of June, 1904.
