NoN-FcEFILLABLEl BOTTLE.
" Appiica'iionied May 24,1905. serai No. 261.967. l
' in a simple, inexpensive, and effective manthe valve.
' outpouring said contents.
ner; and to these ends the nature of the invention consists of certain structural features substantially as hereinafter fully disclosed and particularly specified.
In the accompanying drawings, illustrating the preferred embodiment of my invention, Figure 1 is an axial or longitudinal seotion ofthe bottle. Fig. 2 is a horizontal section produced through the bottle just above Fig. 3 is also an axial section of the same inverted, as when discharging or emptying its contents. o
, In the carrying'out of, my invention I Isuitably form or produce the bottle 1 in any wellknown way with a horizontal partition 2, ar-
ranged well. up near the conjunction of thev body and the neck, and provide said partition with a central opening 2EL for the passage of the li uid or contents of the bottle, as 1n initiallylling the latter and in emptying or The neckportion of said bottle is caused to jut or extend at its inner end into the body portion thereof a` short distance, as at. 3, the'extension thus formed beingpreferably externally beveled toward the inner upper surface' of the body vportion to reduce to the minimum any other# wise-formed obstruction to the passage of the bottle contents beyond or outward of the partition 2. Said jutting portion or extension 3 of thebottle-neck is provided with numerous holes or passav es 4, communicating withthe space or supp emental chamber 4X,
formed above the partitions 2, said passages also communicating with the outlet or interior of the bottle-neck, thus constituting, with the valve in position, as presently noted,
a tortuous or indirect course for the flow of the liquid or contents from the bottle in discharging said contents. y
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented March 13, 1906.
Seated in the opening or passage 2BL of the partition 2 is a preferablydisk-like valve 5 with its under side normally resting upon an upraised surface or elevation 2b of said partition arid its downward-extending stem depending through said openin or passage for the restriction or limitation o the movement of said valve, resulting from the inverting of the bottle, &c.
the jutting or depending portion 3 of the neck portion and the upraised surface'or eleg Said valve, it will be noted, is limited in its play or movement as between vation 2b around the upper edge of the open ing or passage '2a through the medium of these parts, and is rendered thereby eHective ragainst being displaced by any attempt by unauthorized persons with the view of refilling-the bottle; yet it will be observed that in inverting the bottle, as when .desiring to ldischarge its contents or the contained liquid,
the valve v5 will automatically unseat from over the opening 2a and permit the iiow of the liquid through the latter, the valve at the same time oppositely seating over the inner end of the bottle-neck or rather the extension 3 thereof, thus closing said end of the bottle-neck, while the liquid will be allowed to iiow through the lateral passages 4 of the latter and enter and pass out through the neck. As the bottle is restored to its normal or upright position the valve 5 willlikewise automatically resume its original position or seat.
Also it is noted that regardless of whatever position or angle the bottle may be caused to assume the valve 5 will always be in eHeotive alinement or contiguity with the opening or passage 2a and so guard against the uncovering thereof by any effort to dislodge said valve through the bottle-neck,.the
only channel by which access could be had to vsaid opening or valve.
valve-seating ypartition 2 within the body portion of the bottle and jutting or extending the neck portion or member thereinto a relatively increased quantity of the -contents ofthe bottle'is admitted directly to said neck `or delivery portion for discharging said contents with facility. Also by this arrangement of partsit will be seen that .the number of the baffling parts is reduced to the mini- 95 It will be noted that by arranging the y mum and the.construction of said baffling Y parts greatly simplified. Further, by such disposition of parts the neck or mouth of the tion constituted of a cylindric formation practically continued into its body portion,
the necky extension thus produced being pro-V vided With lateral apertures opening into said body portion, said latter portion having an integral apertured partition subdividing the interior therefor, a short vdistance inward from the innery end of said neck extension, and a avity-valvetapered in general outline Wit its'taperevdportion normallyfilling the aperture of said partition, and having a lat circular face presented toward and effective to seat against said inner end neck extension When the bottle is tilted or inverted and simultaneously with Which seating action said valve is so shifted Witli relation to said aperture as to permit the passage by it of the bottle contents.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
