Be it known that I, '1 `iioMAs H. Si'iunge-I TON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have vinvented certain new and usefull Improvements in Covers for JournalfBoxes, 4of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in covers for j ournal-boxes, and has for its object to provide airiinprovcd forni' of hinged lid which when closed will Contact withand seat all the way around the face of the box-o en-` joint on the box, and Fig. 2 illustrates a sectional elevation of the cover and a portion of the box.

Referring to the drawings by numerals, 1 designates the outer end o the journalbox, which is provided. with a faced-'ofi' surface or seat 2, which extends entirely around the box at the outer end and against which the lid seats. The eye members 6 ofthe hinge, which are integral with the lid, have animproved com struction consisting of a central cyli'ndric` part in which the metaliis light or thin and this part is provided with two sides ri s or flanges 7, which are also relatively thin.
