Patented March 13, 1906.
' Application iiled August 10, 1905. Serial No. 273,67@
To a/ZZ whom 'it may con/cern Be it known that I, PHILIPP HUMMEL, a
subject of the German Emperor, residing at- Strassburg, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Conveyer-` Bands. for Cigarette-Making Machines, of
which thefollowing is a specification.
The present invention relates to an improved c'onveyer-band such as is used in machines for making cigarettes; and the object of the invention is to provide such a band V or strap which embodies durability, imperviousness, and cheapness.
' In order to make this invention more readily understood, I will now describe it with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents a cross-'section throu h` l ric proper, b. The latter is so placed about the rubber insertion that the edges meet along the longitudinal middle line, as is clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The edges are then sewed together, preferably by means of an undulatory or meandering seam alternately crossing the middle line. The adhesive property of the rubber insertion and the seam c combine to' make a tight joint between the linenfolds. great advantage that its edges are not liable to fray and that the rubber or the like filling renders it absolutely impervious.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
A conveyer-band for cigarette-machines, comprising in combination, a rubber or the like lpliable Jfilling, and a fabric envelop, the
meeting edges of which are united by means of an undu ous seam, approximately valong the lon itudinal middle line of the band, substantia ly as-and for the pur ose set forth;
. In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
PHILIPP HUMMEL.
