AUTOMATIC DISCHARGE FOR WASHING APPARATUS- Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CONSTANTIN KUNZ, clerk, a subject of the Emperor of Austria- I-Iungary, residing at VI Konigseggasse 2, in the city of Vienna, Austria-Hungary, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Automatic Discharges for i/Vashing Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to an automatic apparatus for discharging liquid from vessels after a given period of time' In many manipulations it is found needful to soak objects in a liquid for a given time and afterward to allow them to dry, in which cases an automatic device whereby after the expiration of the requisite time the liquid is completely discharged from the receptacle is desirable. The present invention provides such a device applicable, for instance, for photographic purposes and by means of which a valve, preferably inserted in the bottom of the vessel, is opened automatically by the action of a float after a predetermined timefor instance, after the flow of a quantity of liquid corresponding to the required time.
In the accompanying drawing there is illustrated by way of example and diagrammatically a construction of the invention, as follows: The Washing vessel proper, a, in which the object or objects to be washed are placed, is connected to a receptacle 0 by means of a tube 1). In this tube 1) is inserted a cock (I, by means of which the flow can be regulated. In order to render possible the outflow of the entire quantity of liquid contained in the receptacle a within a given period of time, there is inserted in the bottom of the receptacle a check-valve f, the plug 9 of which is connected, by means of a chain 7;
or the like carried over the pulley h, with a float y'. From the receptacle a an overflowpipe 7c passes into a receptacle Z in order to allow the excess of liquid to flow off, and thus maintain a circulation of liquid in the receptacle a. If it is desired that the liquid shall flow into the receptacle a for a given time, then the cock d is correspondingly adjusted, so that in this time the given quantity of fluidcan flow through the same and so that in the same period the level of liquid m in the receptacle 0 will descend to the level n. The length of the chain '5 must consequently be so adjusted that it is tightened as soon as the float 7' reaches the level n, whereby the chain is pulled and the valve-plug g of the valve f is raised, thus opening the valve and allow-, ing the entire quantity of fluid in the vessel a to run oii and the article or articles washed to become dry. The length of the chain 1 is so adjustable that it may conveniently be lengthened or shortened by adding new links or removing some, respectively, or chains of different lengths may be used.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that What I claim is An automatic discharge device for washing apparatus comprising two receptacles a and c, a valve f at the bottom of the receptacle a, a plug 9 for said valve, a float j in the receptacle 0 and a connection from the said float to the plug 9 for controlling the valve by said float.
