Description

E. E. KLEINE. DEVFCE FOR WASHING PHOTOS. APPLICATION FILED SEPT. 18. 1919.
Patented Aug. 10 1920.
PATENT OFFICE.
ELISEE EUGENE KLEINE, OF ROSTHERN, SASKATCHEWAN,
CANADA.
DEVICE FOR WASHING PHOTOS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 10, 1920.
Application filed September 18, 1919. Serial No. 324,478.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELISEE E. KLEINE, a citizen of the Dominion of Canada, residing at Itosthern, in the county of Saskatoon and Province of Saskatchewan, Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and use ful Improvements in Devices for Washing Photos, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a device for washing photos consisting of various apparatus and has for its main object to provide a construction which will be easily operated and controlled automatically.
A further object is to provide a means whereby the depth of water in the washing chamber is kept to the desired height.
WVith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
Figure 1 shows a side view of the preferred embodiment of my invention,
Fig. 2 is an enlarged side view of the water feed and controlling means,
Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line Fig. 1,
Igig. 4 is a top plan view of the frames, an
Fig. 5 is a section on the line 5-5 of Fig. looking in the direction of the arrows. Referring to the drawings like numerals designate like parts in the various drawings.
6 isa table of any suitable desired size and style on which a wash container 7 may be positioned. This wash container 7 is provided with an opening preferably central in the bottom thereof which opening is connected with an outlet pipe 8.
9 is a liquid container for holding water or any chemical mixture which is commonly used in the developing of photographic productions. 10 is a connecting pipe connected to the container 9 and having a downwardly extending end 11 to which controlling means 12' is connected. The end 11 is provided with a T-pipe 13 and spreaders 14. These spreaders 14: are each provided with a closed end as at 15 and the lower portion of the same is provided with small openings 16 so that the water or chemical mixture from the container 9 is allowed to flow out of the spreaders 1 1 in all directions and keep ti entire bath in continuous motion.
Between the spreaders 14: is a float 17 into which are cut notches 18 at opposite sides so as to be guided between the spreaders 141. 19 is a plunger having a rubber stopper 10 at its lower end and the plunger is frictionally held at any desired height in the float 17 as will be hereinafter referred to.
At each end of the wash container 7, I provide cleats or holders 21 on which are positioned frames 22 having openings 23 on which the photos or other similar articles requiring washing are placed.
It will be appreciated that to wash certain photographic productions or similar articles, it requires a considerably long wash and the construction of this device is such that it can be turned on by the controlling means 12 and allowed to fill up to a certain height in the wash container 7. If it is desirous to only use two of the trays, the plunger 19 is so positioned through the float 17 that the float 17 will be positioned slightly above the second tray rack with the rubber stopper as in position over the exit hole of the wash container 7. If the water rises above the height that this float is now positioned at, the float 17 will rise and while rising will take with it the plunger 19 so that an outlet will be given to the overflow of water.
It will be seen that any desired tray height can be obtained by this construction and a further description is not deemed necessary.
What I claim as new, is
A washing device for photographic productions or the like consisting of a wash container adapted to be suitably positioned on a table, an outlet preferably formed centrally in the bottom of said wash container, a flow pipe from said outlet, feed pipe and controlling means on said feed pipe, the free end of said feed pipe being provided with a T-head, spreaders connected to said T-head, said spreaders each having a closed lower end and small openings adapted to spread water in all directions when forced through the same, a float mounted between said spreaders, said float in a predetermined position and having a stopper at its lower end adapted to close said outlet in said wash container.
In testimony whereof I afiiX my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
ELISEE EUGENE KLEINE.
