To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, .JOSEPH F. MCDER- MOTT, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Umatilla, county of Marquette, in the Province of Manitoba, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Delivery-Spouts; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same..

This invention relates to an improvement in adjusting means for delivery-spente; and it is embodied in the construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and specifically pointed out in the claim.

The invention is designed particularly for use in. connection with discharge-spouts of threshing-machines wherein the grain is delivered from the machine to a wagon-box or through the delivery-spout to bags, into which the grain is placed.

The invention is designed especially for raising or lowering the long bagging-spout used with a threshing-machine, and by means of the invention herewith shown the man in the wagon can raise or lower the baggingspout by means of a cord which releases a dog from a ratchet, thereby permitting an extension and supporting member to be either eX- tended or contracted for the required purpose, so as to place the lower end of the bagging-spout at just the place desired.

Other objects of the invention are to provide adjustable connections between the elevator and the bagging-spout, which adjusting means may be locked.

Referring to the annexed drawings, in which similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views, Figure 1 is a fragmentary elevational view of a portion of an elevator and a bagging-spout provided with the invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail view of the adjusting and locking means, hereinafter referred to, shown partly in side view and partly in section; and Fig. 3 is a plan view of the device shown in Fig. 2.

Referring to the parts, 4 is an elevatorspout, from which extends the bagging-spout 5. On the bagging-spout 5 or surrounding the same is a band or hoop 6, which connects the rack 7 with said spout 5.

Connected with the elevator 4 is a clip 8, having the pintle extension 9, through which passes the pintle 10, which pintle also passes through the bifurcation 11 of the housing 12, into which the rack 7 is adapted to pass.

Supported in bearings 13 on the housing 12 is a shaft 14, on which shaft is carried the pinion 15, which meshes with the rack 7.

Keyed to the shaft 14 is a ratchet 16, with which coperates the pawl 17, which pawl is normally held in engagement with said ratchet by means of the spring 18, bearing on said pawl.

Projecting from the pawl 17 is a pin 19, to which is connected thecord 20, which cord p asses around the pulley 21 ,whichis supported in the bracket 22 on the bagging-spout 5, and then through the pulley-block 23 on the elevator and thence to any desired location.

When it is desired to change the angle of relation between the ielevator and the bagging-spout, all that is necessary is to draw on the cord 20, thereby lifting the pawl 17 from engagement with the ratchet 16, and the bagging-spout may be swung either farther from the'elevator or nearer to the same, as may be desired, after which the cord 2O is released, and the spring referred to will carry the pawl 17 into engagement with said ratchet, thereby iocking the bagging-spout in position.

It is evident that owing to the pivotal connection of the housing 12 with the elevator 4 the bagging-spout may be carried through a wide range, and the angle of inclination of said spout with relation to the elevator may be changed as may become necessary.

It 1s evldent that the housing 12 should be slotted, as shown at 12", for the pinion 15 to.

pass through said slot into engagement with said rack.

I am aware that changes may be made in the form and position of some of the parts without materially departing from the spirit of the present invention.

In a device of the character described, an elevator, a bagging-spout, a bracket connected with one of said members, said bracket having a perforated extension, a housing having a perforaterfl and biiurcated extension,

pivotally connected With the extension of said bracket, a rack slidable longitudinally in said housing, a pinion mounted on said housing in mesh With said rack, a ratchet rotatable With said pinion, a pawl normally in engagement with said ratchet, and means for releasing said pawl.
