fed in and the point where it is delivered and therefore the web on the deflector is sub- By my invention it will be noted the web runs continuously over the deflector, latter is located practically OUtSldGgthG press and between the points of first delivery and second infeed of the web. By this improvedmethod of handling theweb I am able tolead a narrow web a plurality of times through the machine with absolute precision, so that perfect registration is obtainable at high s eeds and with less liability of rupture of we owing to. its continuous movement over the deflector.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent thereon, is-
1. In combination, a stationary type-bed, an impression-cylinder and means'for rolling the cylinder back and forth overthe bed, means for feeding a narrow web twice into the press, and means for delivering such web twice from the pre'ss,and looping devices for intermittently shifting the part ofthe web in the press between the feeding and delivering mec anisms through the printing devices; with means for guiding a narrow-width web twice throughthe press between the feeding and delivering devices; with means for deflecting the web to one side, between the poi ts where it first leaves the delivery and who eit enters the feed devices a'second time, substantially as described.
2; In combination, a stationary bed and reciprocating cylinderfor printing upon a web, and means for reciprocating the cylinder; means for continuously feeding web to said rinting means, means for delivering the web rom-sald printing means, and web-loop ing the web between said feeding and delivery mechanisms; with a web-deflector adjacent to the feeding and delivering mechanisms by which the after passing once through the and the mechanism' for intermittently shifting machine isidefieeted to one side, and again directed/to the feeding mechanism and Zthroug h'the machine in a plane parallel with 3 Inapii its first travel therethrough, substantiall described.-. i
