Port Jervis, in-the county of Orange and State of New York, have mvented certain-new and useful Improvements in Toy Pistols, of which the following is a specification.

My invention is an improvement in toy pistols; and it consists in certain novel constructions and combinations of parts herein after described and claimed.

In the practical application of my invention I provide a toy pistol comprising a casing composed of two symmetrlcal halves "A and B, each half composed of a plate of metal or other suitable material stam ed or cast in such manner that when the haves are fitted together they will form a pistol liavin" a barrel a and a grip a. It will be evident from the description that my invention although sim le in construction is yet durable and not iable to st out of order. The pistol may be cheap y constructed by castin or stamping the differ ent parts, no comp icated mechanism being necessary in the operation. The plunger may be constructed of a strip of sheet metal, bent to form a slot for recelving the rubber band, and the free ends pivoted to the hammer, the hammer and trig er being also cut from sheet metal. When 51c rubber band is worn out, it may be easily replaced by sliping the ring off the barrel, removing t e band, and a plying a new one.

A toy (pistol comprising a barrel and a 1glrilp forme of two symmetrical concave a ves, a screw-threaded bolt traversing the halves adjacent the junction of the barrel and grip, a nut engaging the bolt to secure the halves together, a hammer pivoted in the bolt, a plunger slidably mounted within the barrel and provided with a transverse slot at its outer end, connecting-rods between the plunger and the hammer, a rearwardly-projecting arm on the plunger and provided with a recess for engaging the bolt, a sprin for retaining the arm 1n engagement with t e bolt, a trigger pivoted to'the bolt, a lug on the trigger for releasin the arm, and a spring for actuating the p unger comprising a rubber band traversing the slot therein, the free ends of the band extending without the open ends of the barrel, and a ring on the barrel for securing the ends of the band thereto, substantially as described.

2. A: toy pistol comprising a casing composed of two symmetrical concave alves,

ormed to represent a barrel and grip, means for securing the halves together, a hammer pivoted within the grip, a plunger slidably mounted within the barrel, means connecting the hammer and the plunger, a rearwardly-extending arm on the plunger, means engaging the arm to retain it in its rearward position, a trigger for releasing said arm, and a spring for actuating the plunger comprising a rubberband secured at its central point to the plunger, the free ends extending through the open ends of the barrel and a ring for securing the ends of the band to the barrel, substantially as described.

A toy pistol comprising a casing composed of two symmetrical halves secured together and shaped to represent a pistol barrel and grip, a s iding plunger Within the barrel, a hammer pivoted within the grip, connections between the hammer and the plunger whereb when the hammer is set the plunger wil be drawn to the rear of the barrel, means for retainin the hammer in the set position, a tri ger or releasing said retaining means, an a spring for actuating the plunger comprising a rubber band secured thereto, and extending outwardly through the 0 en end of the barrel, and a ring on the barre engaging the ends of the rubber band to retain it in position, substantially as described.

A toy pistol comprising a casin a plun ger slidably mounted therein, a ammer, means whereby when the hammer is set the plunger is drawn to the rear, means for retaining the hammer in its set position, a trigger for releasing said retaining means, elastic means for actuating the plunger connected therewith and extending outwardly throu h the 0 en end of the barrel, and means on the barre for engaging-said elastic means.
