Description

No. 808,253. PATENTED DEC. 26, 1905.
E. M. PATTEN. MECHANICAL MOVEMENT.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA UG.10,1905
lnmlmliw In i 11:? 1 I l 1 INVENTOR Allomey UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDWARD M. PATTEN, OF YUMA, COLORADO.
MECHANICAL MOVEMENT.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD M. PATTEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Yuma, in the county of Yuma and State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mechanical Movements; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in mechanical movements; and the object in view is to produce a mechanism whereby rotary movements may be imparted to two shafts in opposite directions by the reciprocation of a bar having pivotal connections with crank-arms, one upon each of said shafts.
The invention consists in various details of construction and in combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically d escribed in the appended claim.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this application, and in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of my apparatus, and Fig. 2 is a top View.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter,A A designate standards supporting a plate B, which has an elongated Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 10, 1905. Serial No. 273,556-
Patented Dec. 26, 1905.
slot 0 therein, and journaled in suitable bearings in said standards are the shafts D and D. To the shaft D is keyed a crank-arm E, and to the shaft D is keyed a crank-arm E.
F designates a bar carrying a sliding pivotal pin H, adapted to have a play in said slot O as a longitudinal and tilting movement is imparted to the bar F.
K designates a pitman, which is pivotally connected to the pin H and is provided for the purpose ofreciprocating the bar F.
From the foregoing it will be observed that by the provision of the apparatus shown and described means is afforded for driving the shafts D and D in opposite directions by the reciprocating movement of the pitman, which has pivotal connections with the pin H, as shown and described.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In combination with a frame having a horizontally-disposed ofiset portion B, one face of which is provided with a recess, a sliding block mounted to have a reciprocating movement in said recess, a pin carried by said block, a bar pivotally mounted upon said pin, crank-shafts to which the ends of said bar are pivotally connected, and a pitman also pivotally connected to said pin, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
EDWARD M. PATTEN.
