UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
THEODOR R. WILLWERSOHEID, OF ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA.
SIGN- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 12, 1905.
Application filed April 20, 1905. Serial No. 256,644:-
T0 on whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, THEODOR R. VVILLWER- SOHEID, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Paul, in the county of Ramsey and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and, useful Improvements in Signs, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in signs, its object being particularly to provide an improved construction, of hanging sign consisting of a frame and inclosed sign so supported in the frame as to be protected thereby.
To this end my invention consists in the features of construction and combination hereinafter particularly described and claimed.
The accompanying drawing is a side view of my improved device.
As shown in the drawing, the inclosing frame of the sign consists of a metal bar bent to form a loop 2, joined beyond the loop by rivets 3, the ends L of the bars being downturned and secured to the supporting-wall, as by means of suitable bolts 5. The frame is further supported by a chain 6, connecting its upper side with the framework above. Hung within the loop or frame 2 is an indexhand 7, connected with hooks 8 in the upper side of the frame by straps 9. As shown in the drawing, the inclosing frame is shaped to come as close as possible to the extreme points of the hand, so as to protect the same, as well as allow it to swing freely.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A sign of the class described, comprising a metal bar bent to form a loop, the ends of the bar outside the loop being riveted together and bent at an angle with the loop, and a hand hinged within said loop.
2. A sign of the class described comprising a metal bar bent to form a loop, the ends of the bar beyond the loop being secured together and turned at an angle with said loop, hooks depending from the upper side of the loop, and a sign having hinge-support from said hooks.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
