g No. 806,825.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 1 1905- Application filed June 13, 1905. Serial No. 264,990-
[ (all whom, it nuty concern.-
Be it known that I, FRIEDRICH MtINZ, a citizen of the German Empire, and a resident of Stuttgart, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements iuSkirt-Holding Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved skirtholder which is adapted to be permanently attached to a skirt and which when folded reduces the length of the skirt by folding the same transversely.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 1s a front view of my improved skirt-holder,
showing it open; Fig. 2, an end view thereof; Fig. 3, a front view of the skirt-holder, showing it closed; and Fig. 4;, an end view of Fig. 3.
The holder consists of two curved arms a and a, pivotally connected by a pin 6, extending at right angles to the plane of the arms. The arms are preferablyprovided at their free ends with perforated rotatable disks or rollers d d, by means of which the holder may be sewed to thedress material, the plane of the said disks or rollers extending parallel to that of the holder. The holder is therefore secured in such manner that it remains in the plane of the dress 2, even when the latter is folded. This arrangement has the ad vantage that the holder lies flat against the body in every position, so that the creases produced by the picking up of the dress are not very noticeable. To projections c and 0' onthe convex sides of the arms on'either side of the hinge is secured a spring 6. When the holder is open, the spring extends to the right of pivot Z2, Fig. 1, and when the holder is closed the spring extends to the left of such pivot, Fig. 3. In its open position the body of the spring itself prevents an undue opening of the arms. In its closed position the dress is raised to a height equal substantially to the distance between the disks d d. These disks are preferably dished to prevent the thread that connects the skirt to the holder from being out.
What I claim is A skirt holder provided with a pair of curved arms, a connecting-pivot extending at right angles to the plane of the arms, a spring connecting the convex sides of the arms, and perforated disks rotatably secured to the ends of the arms and extending at right angles to the pivot, substantially as specified.
