To all whom, it may concern.-

Be it known that I, MARTHA W. ORANMER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Beachhaven, in the county of Ocean, State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ironing Attachments for Stoves; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to ironing-machines, and has for its object to provide a machine of this kind which may be attached to an ordinary stove to receive heat therefrom and which will be so arranged that clothing and similar articles may be ironed thereby quickly and in an efiicient manner.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description, and it will be understood that modifications of the specific construction shown may be made and any suitable materials may be used Without departing from the spirit of the invention.

In the drawings forming a portion of this specification, and in which like characters of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, Figure 1 is a side elevation of the present invention applied to a stove. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the trunk is provided with spring-clips for engagement of the stove. Fig. 4 is a section on line 4: 4c of Fig. 1 looking toward the outer end of the trunk.

Referring now to the drawings, there is showna stove 5, having a flanged opening 6 in its top for the reception of a lid.

The present invention comprises a hollow trunk 7, which is open at its lower end and which has its upper portion 8 turned to eX- tend laterally, and this portion is flattened, as shown. The portion 8 is provided with an opening 9 in its under side, and depending from the trunk at the inner end of the opening there is a bracket 10, a similar bracket 11 depending from the trunk at the outer end of the opening, and journaled in these brackets there is a shaft 12, upon which there is mounted an ironing-roller'13, the latter being disposed beneath the opening 9 to receive heat from the trunk therethrough. The shaft 12 extends outwardly beyond the bracket 11 and carries atits end a wheel 14, provided with a crank 15, by which the roller may be rotated.

The trunk 7 is weighted at its lower end, as shown at 16, to prevent the weight of the roller, &c., overbalancing the trunk, and at one side it is provided with a door 17, through which the top of the stove may be reached to permit of the lid of the stove being placed in position or removed and also to permit of feeding the fire through the opening 6.

As shown, the roller 13 extends laterally beyond the stove, and when the machine is in use an ironing-board A is disposed beneath the roller and articles of wearing-apparel are fed between the board and the roller, the latter being rotated by means of the handle 15.

In Fig. 3 there is shown a modified form of the invention, in which the trunk is provided with spring-clips A at its bottom for engagement over the edges of the top of the stove to hold the device in position.

What is claimed is 1. A machine of the class described, comprising a hollow trunk including a vertical portion, and a laterally-extending portion, said vertical portion being arranged for connection with a stove to receive heat therefrom, said laterally-extending portion having an opening in its under face, an ironing-roller revolubly mounted beneath the opening to receive heat from the trunk therethrough, and an operating-handle connected with the roller.

A machine of the class described comprising a hollow trunk including a vertical portion and a laterally-extending portion, said vertical portion being arranged for connection with a stove to receive heat therefrom, said laterally-extending portion having an opening in its under face, depending brackets carried by thelaterally-extending portion, at opposite ends to the opening. a shaft revolubly mounted in the brackets an ironing-roller carried by the shaft and lying beneath the opening of the trunk to receive heat therethrough from the trunk, and an operatinghandle connected with the shaft.

An ironing attachment for stoves comprising a trunk having its upper portion turned to extend laterally and flattened, the lower portion of the trunk extending vertically and being open at its lower end, the lower end of the vertical portion being weighted, said vertical portion having an opening in its side adjacent to its lower end, a door for said opening, said trunk being adapted to be disposed upon a stove to receive heat therefrom, the laterally-extending por- In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of tWo Witnesses.
