WARMING DEVICE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 19, 1905.
Application filed October 24, 190% Serial No. 229,795.
may be employed in connection with any of.
. the various forms of cooking and heating apparatus, more particularly the numerous forms and styles of oil, gas, or vapor stoves in general use.
With these and other objects in View, which will appear as the nature of the invention-is better understood, the same consists in certain novel features of construction, as hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, and in which corresponding parts are denoted by like designating characters, is illustrated the preferred form of the embodiment of the invention capable of carrying the same into practical operation, it being understood that the invention is not necessarily limited thereto, as various changes in the shape, proportions, and general assemblage of the parts may be resorted to Without departing from the principle of the invention or sacrificing any of the advantages. In the drawings thus employed, Figure 1 is a side view of a conventional gas-stove with the improved device in vertical section disposed thereon. Fig. 2 is an inverted perspective view of the improved device.
The improved device comprises a drum or shell 10, open at one end and with the other end provided with an outwardly-flaring rim 11, provided With a plurality of spaced ventapertures 12 and connected at its free end to a platform 13, the platform being thus supported by the adjacent end of the drum 10 and spaced therefrom. Attached to the inner Walls of the drum 10 is a brace member .14, extending in advance of the end of the drum and bearing against the inner surface of the platform to support the same and prevent its depression when in use. The open end of the drum is designed to be placed over one of the burners of a vapor, gas, or oil stove or upon the upper surface of a cook-stove or some forms of heating-stm'cs, but, as before stated, is more particularly designed for use upon vapor, gas, or oil cooking-stoves, and for the purpose of illustration is shown applied to a conventional form of a gas-stove in which the base or frame is represented at 15 and the burners at 16 17, with the drum 10 in position over one of the burners. The drum, it will be obvious, occupies comparatively little space and is long enough to cause the flaring portion 11 to project above any cooking utensils which may be for the time being in use upon the other burner. The presence of the device, therefore, does not seriously interfere with the use of the remaining burners on the stove. The platform 13 thus provides an extended surface for the reception of dishes of food of various kinds which it is desired to keep warm and will be thus maintained at a uniform temperature from the heat rising from the burner within the shell or drum.
The device may be of any desired size and of any required material and the platform 13 'of any required shape, irrespective of the shape of the drum 10, so that the area of the platform may be increased or decreased, as required.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is In a device of the class described, a cylin-
