IMPROVEMENT IN HARVESTER-GUTTER SHARPENER.

TO ALL WI-IOM IT MAY GONOERN:
Be itknown that I, EDWIN L. BUSHNELL, of Poughkeepsie, in the county of Dutchess, and State of New York, have 'invented a new end mproved Harvester-Sharpener and I do hereby declare tbatthe following s a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, referencebeing had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
The object of this invention is to provide an instrument for sharpening the cutters of reaping and mowingmachines. i
The ordinary rifle used for sharpening scythes cannot well be adapted to this purpose. It requires a diderent-shaped instrument to fit in between the knives or cutters of harvesters or mowers to operate with the desired effect.
And the invention consists in making the blade of the Sharpener rhomboidal shaped, so that it wiil t in between the cutters, and produce, with a drawing` stroke or motion, the desired elect.

By forming the blade A in this manner, I get a Sharpener withvfour sides of equal superficial measurement, and of equal value for the use intended.
The sharp corners or acute angles formed by the sides allow it to reach portions of the cutters that a. square ritleisharpener` could not reach, while the fiat sharpening-surface renders it much more effective than any ovalshaped rifle can be for the particular purpose intended.
Having thus described'my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- As a new and improved article of manufact-ure, the rhomboidal-shaped cutter-Sharpener, substantiallyas described, and for the purposes set forth.
