which, after the boundary-stone has been set, I
centered, and adjusted therein, is filled up with earth thrown or rammed in around the boundary-stone.
Now with the object of facilitating and simplifying its erection a boundary-stone is made according to this invention with its foot or lower part in the form of a screw, by means of which it can be readily inserted in position by screwing it into the ground without having first to dig a large hole for that purpose.
The under side of the foot of the boundarystone is formed with a central recess adapted to receive a small ball of glass, earthenware, or other hard material for the purpose of facilitating the centering of the boundarystone and its more convenient adjustment in position.
Referring to the drawings, which form part of this specification, Figurel is an elevation, and Fig. 2 is a plan, of a construction of boundary-stone according to this invention.
In this construction the head (I of the boundary-stonc is made square to enable a spanner to be used for screwing the stone into the ground.
The head a may be provided with a hole I) for the reception of a sighting-rod.
The lower part or foot 0 is made in the form of a screw tapering toward the point f. The under side of the point f is formed with a recess 1, in which a small ball (I, of glass or earthenware, can fit loosely, so as to project slightly beyond the under side of the point By means of this ball (I the boundary-stone is automatically and accurately centered or adjusted in position while being screwed into the ground.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent. is
In a boundary-stone the combination of a lower part made in the form of a screw and having a central recess formed in the under side of its foot, with a small hard ball projecting therefrom, whereby the said boundary-stone is automatically centered and kept in vertical position while being screwed into the ground, as set forth.
