Specification of Letters Patent.

Application filed No e b 14, 190 i. Serial No. 232,569.
To all 1071,0711, 1713 Uta/y (HHLCPV'IL:
Be it known that l, GEORGE JAMns OHAIRE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Corliss, in the county of Racine and State of lVisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holder Attachments; and 1 do hereby declare that the following is l a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
My invention has for its object to provide simple economical devices especially designed for attachment to the backs of auditorium seats to serve as hat, umbrella or cane, garment, and program holders, but which are applicable in connection with walls or other sup ports as holders for hats, papers or cards, unr brellas or canes, garments, towels, and other articles, said invention consisting in what is hereinafter particularly set forth with reference to the accompanying drawing and subsequently claimed.
The drawing represents a perspective view of a holder attachment in accordance with my invention.
Referring by letter to the drawing, A indicates a flat central portion, and B outer bows of a sheet-metal spring-plate that is fastened to the back of an auditorium-seat or other support (not shown) by screws (J, extending through apertures provided in its liat central portion. Integral with the plate and extending downward from the upper edge of the flat portion of same midway of the bows B is a suitably-bent main tongue D, and struck out from thistongue is an upwardly-extending suitably-bentauxiliary tongue E, both tongues and the ends of said plate being normally against the support to which the device as a whole is connected.
in an auditorium each bow B of the attachment may serve as a holder for a cane, umbrella, or garment, the tongue I) as a holder for a hat caught by the rim between said tongue and adjacent backing and the tongue E as a holder for a program caught between it and said backing. in restaurants, barberi shops, and elsewhere the attachment may serve, in connection with its support, as a holder for garments, canes or umbrellas, tow els, hats, cards, papers, or other articles, and it is within the scope of my invention to omit either one or both of the bows or either or both tongues of said attachment. Instead of the sheet-metal springmlate I may utilize spring-wire of suitable gage in the construction of the holder.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A holder attachable to a suitable support and comprising a bowed wring-tongue member extending outward and downward from the upper edge of the holder and another springtongue struck upward out of the one aforesaid, the free ends of the tongues being rearwardly inclined.
2. A holder attachable to a suitable support and consisting of a sheet-metal plate having outwardly-bowed end portions, a flat portion between the bows, and a bowed spring-tongue extending outward and downward from the upper edge of the Hat portion of the plate, the free end of the tongue being rearmirdly inclined.
3. A holder attachable to a suitable support and consisting of a sheet-metal plate having outwardly-bowed end portions, a flat portion between the bows, a bowed spring-tongue extending outward and downward from the upper edge of the fiat portion of the plate, and an auxiliary springtongue struck upward out of the main one, the free ends of the tongues being rearwardly inclined.
in testimony that I. claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand, at Corliss, in the county of Racine and State of Wisconsin, in the presence of two witnesses.
