PATENT OFFICE.
WINDOW-SHADE HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 794,976, dated July 18, 1905. Application filed August 29, 1904. Serial No. 222,560.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J ULIUS M. GLIOKMAN, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Cleveland, Cuyahoga county, State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Window-Shade Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to holders for window-shade rollers, having for its object to provide a simple easily and readily adjusted and applied holder; and it consists in the new construction of a device for such purpose, substantially as hereinafter described, and point ed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of a window-frame, showing the manner of attaching my new shade-holder. Fig. 2 is also a front elevation of a windowframe, showing the shade and holder fixed in place. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the holder on an enlarged scale. Figs. 4, 5, and 6 are details of the metal parts of the holder.
A represents a portion of a window-frame.
B, Fig. 2, represents a shade-roller as it appears held in my new holder.
The holder consists of a bar C, divided in its middle, and the two parts are adjustably attached to a grooved hinge D by means of thumb-screws (Z d passed through slots 0 e in the hinge-plates. On one side of said slots 0 e are made projecting teeth or a roughened surface to prevent the bars C from slipping by undue pressure. On the ends of the bars O are provided pivoted metal heads FF, having roughened surfaces, which bear against the window-frame when the holder is in place, as seen in Fig. 2.
Gr G are adjustable journal-bearings for the journals of the shade-roller. These are held in place by means of thumb-screws g g.
To put the holder in place in the windowframe, first adjust the bars in the hinge D so as to tightly fit in the window-frame, then place the heads F F in the corners of the frame A by holding the bars with both hands, as shown in Fig. 1. Now by pressing upward with the hands the holder is immediately sprung firmly into place, as shown in Fig. 2. Next the journal-bearings for the shade-roller may be adjusted to fit the roller without having to cut it off or in any manner marring the roller.
Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,
The herein-described window-shade holder consisting of the divided bar C, a grooved hinge adjustably uniting said divided bar pivoted heads on the ends of the bar members, and adjustable journal-bearings on said bar members, constructed and adapted to operate substantially as described.
Signed by me at Cleveland, Ohio, this 27th day of August, 1904.
JULIUS M. GLICKMAN.
