Be it known that I, WILLIAM N. KINGTON, of Bowensbnrg, in the county ofiHancock, and State of Illinois,

heve invented-a new and valuable Improvement in Sew-Clamps; and I do hereby declare that the following is l a full, clear, and exact description of vthe construction and operation of the same, reference bei-ng had to the annexeddrawings, making a. part of this specifica-tion, and to the letters and figures of'reference `marked thereon. l

The object of myv invention is to provide better means than have heretofore beendevised for holding` sans Letters Bare two jaws, pivoted together at the pointK, Aand 'connected with the clampswA in themanner shown on g. El. i

Iretter C is a scaiold or seat, upon whichthe operator may sit while the work is being' done.

Letters D are upright bars, pivoted to the jaws B,"respeetively,.at the points @and-slotted and made adjustable at the-points M, as shown on iig. 2f

The object of the construetionand arrangement ot' these upright bars is to enable the operator to adjust the scaffold() atithe point inward or outward that he may deem advisable.

Lettel` F represents a plank, attached to the rear of the device, and to the extended parts of the jaws that extend downward in the rear, as represented on fig. 1.

The hooks G are attached to any bench or other stationary ohject sutliciently strong `for the purpose, and the saw is placed in the clamps. The. operator -then stands on the platform J, or sits on the scaffold C, and performs his labor. The'iveightof the operator upon the platform or scaffold holds the saw securely and 'rmly in its place, thereby dispensing with all bench-screws and kindred devices.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

A saw-clamp, having clamps A, jaws 13, scalold' C, upright bars D, platform J, lplank H, and hooks G,

constructed, combined, and arranged substantially as specied.
