Be it known that I, JAMES NOEL TALBOTT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Butte, in the county of Silverbow and State of Montana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Paper-Files, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a file for holding permanently papers of various kinds-such as physicians prescriptions, bills, letters, and the like-which are often referred to, and in case the desired paper is below others the superimposed papers must necessarily be thrown back, which movement on ordinary files will often cause the uppermost papers to fall or be pushed off.

The object of this invention, therefore, is to construct a simple and cheap file that will securely hold the papers placed thereon and at the same time permit those papers above the one desired to be turned back without fear of their becoming loosened from the iile.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a file made in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 represents a side elevation of the same.

Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.

The numeral 1 indicates a rectangular base made of wood, binders boards, or other material suitable for the purpose, to which base near one end is fastened two upright wires 2 3, bent into loops 4 at a suitable height above said base and extending from thence downwardly within a short distance of the base, where their ends 5 are pointed and bent into compound curves 7 and 8 or curves of ogee form, as shown, the extreme ends pointing downwardly and rearwardly. It will be observed that each upright 2 or 3 and its downward projection or nger 6 and doubly-curved end 5 lie in the saine plane, the planes themselves being parallel. As thus constructed a paper to be placed on the file is held face downward and punctured by the pointed ends 5, after which it is worked around the curved portions 7 and 8, then carried up the fingers 6, over the loops il, and finally on the uprights 2 and 3, bringing the face of the paper uppermost. When a paper below the top one is wanted, all those above it are raised and turned back over the loops 4 onto the fingers 6 and are prevented from slipping off the file by the novel shape of the points 5 and their position with respect to the fingers.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is#- 1. In a file-wrapper, a base, and a looped wire having arms joined at their outer ends and extending toward and from the base, the outwardly-extending arm being secured at its inner end to the base and the inwardly-extending arm having its free end extending to a point in proximity to the base and pointed and bent into a compound curve.

2. In a iile for papers, a base and looped wires attached at one end to said base, the free ends of said wires having their ends curved in ogee form, the fixed and free portions of each looped wire and its curved end lying in the same plane.

3. In a file for papers, a base, and a rearwardly-looped wire attached at one end to said base, the free end of said wire having its end bent rearwardly in ogee form and lying in the same plane as the two upstanding portions of the looped wire.
